If this is directed at me I asked a genuine question. I didn’t shut anyone down and certainly won’t be apologising. The poster ‘guaranteed’ us something last time which didn’t eventuate. I’m entitled to ask a question this time around and don’t go playing the nice guy now all of sudden now dd.

All I said is that I hated his info. Still do.

I don't agree with dropping Tomlinson, and I am a firm believer that we won't win a flag this year unless we get another decent tall marking target up forward, which seems to be Petty.

All good DZ and Jaded. The comment made by the Almighty Dazzling one was fairly and squarely directed at me. Subtlety’s not his forte.

LOL, suggesting a poster is owed an apology for being doubted re their intel, especially when the poster has got it wrong in the past.

Imagine an apology being issued every time that happened. 🤣

We’d need a dedicated thread for it and it would rival the No T$ thread in terms of length. Hells, we’d need an entire separate website. 😁😁😁

pfft some people.  🙄

I reckon petty will play forward, as will Smith, taking spargo's role

Gus plays back, with Spargo, who looks like he needs a spell as sub.

If super wet, sub spargo in for petty.

I like this idea. I reckon Gus is an A+ half back but only B+ winger and midfielder.

If we’ve dropped Tomlinson and then Petty plays forward then the selection committee are as dumb as dog****.

It’s been proven time and time again that we need the three tall defenders for our structure to work. We’ve played our best football over the last three years that way and struggled when it’s just been May and Lever. Petty has to play back. Petty was having a poor year both up forward and in defense and should’ve been dropped prior to injury. On form this year, Tomlinson has been better and had a ripper against the Pies. Bringing in an underdone player who was in poor form and dropping a fit player who was in form is poor selection. Petty is better, but not right now.

Would’ve liked to see Bowey in again too. He was killing it before the concussion. Hopefully he showed good form in the VFL and gets promoted again. Although form apparently doesn’t matter to our selection committee…

Cold, wet night, narrow ground and crowded D50.

Hardly any marks will be taken, offensively or defensively, and the ball will be on the deck most of the night.

The conditions make a third tall less critical.

Gus can play back and we can run with three talls up forward (Petty, Smith and JVR) - and perhaps give Max and brodie more bench time.

Great game - given a chance to shine and seized it well. At least he is on the bench. Very handy for clearances/spoils.

Overall, the team looks strong, adaptable and able. How will Badloss configure the onfield? Who will nullify Close, a significant feeder and gatherer?

Please excuse my ignorance, but who or what is “Badloss”??!!

Also, when do you turn 8?

Tommo out is a surprise but I’ve got a feeling that by the time the final siren goes tmw night it will make a lot more sense to us all.
Very unlike us to drop somebody who’s playing well so can’t see us doing it without good reason.

Scott will out coach him , that's a given.

Who wins is another matter

Goody just out-coached McRae so he may be improving his game day coaching

maybe we should support him?

petty >>> tomlinson

i'm fine with that, especially as cats effectively play with two talls (hawkins and cameron // may and petty), two mid-sizers  who plays tall (rohan and henry // lever and hibberd), a rotation of mid-sizers and smaller ground level players (close, stengle, miers // salem, rivers, mcvee)

i presume that spargo will be the sub

Whats the chance Petty goes forward and Smith goes back tomorrow.

No chance.
Smith has trained and played forward all year. The FD clearly liked what he brought to the forwardline with his pressure and athleticism.
We can’t fit anymore players down back especially medium sized one. We can’t even fit Bowey in there currently.

Petty is best 22. If he’s fit, he plays. Tough on Tomlinson but it’s great to have him as cover and know he can do a job for us and be relied upon if needed.

We know what Tomlinson can do for us. Smith is 2 games into a stint as a forward. The experiment needs more time to see if a viable longer-term solution for us. I’m in favor of keeping him in for this reason.

I’m a huge fan of Spargo but his form is well down this year. Hopefully a spell at Casey will help him rebuild his form and confidence. An in form Spargo would be great to have in the latter part of the season and finals.

A lot of questioning of the selection committee in this thread. I can’t think of too many calls they’ve got wrong this season. There was a lot of calls for Salem to come back through the VFL but he has hardly missed a beat since returning. Like Salem I think Petty much more likely to find form quicker in the firsts than at Casey.

I thoroughly dislike the cats and really resent getting sent to their sh*tpile of a stadium and ground every year. I hope we smash ‘em.

Outside of Petty not playing in how long? My biggest shake of the head is our backline hasn’t looked or performed this well in a long time since Thommo came back in.

I think we are now meddling with things that ought not be meddled with.

We don't need a full storyline.

He provided once again the right information and you completely shot him down without even giving him the chance. He's got a 98% track record on here, so there's room for a little slip up once in a while.

Broke the news Tomlinson news well before it got to the media.

Just a simple sorry I was wrong and you were right for old mate 🙂

Keep up the good work @12345_54321. Most of us on here actually appreciate your intel.

Your sample size is 2 weeks, not sure it's quite "set in stone, not to be touched".

Yes, most would agree that the back line works better with a second tall (depending on match-ups), but Petty is a better KPD than Tomlinson.

Poor danger supposedly on death’s doorstep with punctured lung, cracked ribs and overinflated ego, seems to be the true superman and able to play this week.

not just his ego that’s overinflated, but reports of the severity of his injury

I agree, but he hasn’t played in how long? And what has been said is he was going to come back and play forward again.
Im hoping it’s all a ruse. I think Petty needs to play VFL to get match fit.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
