Couldn’t go as I’m currently in regional WA but watched it on the AFL app, reckon Curtin’s performance gives West Coast further food for thought. Reid was super clean and showed how good he is but trading for 2 first rounders if they can guarantee getting Curtin is tempting.

For those who watched it, a late call up under ager who only showed a few snippets is Austin Van Der Struyf, he is one to watch for next year. Smooth mover off half back/wing with elite foot skills and fantastic vision. Captain of Christchurch First XVIII, where he plays as an inside midfielder

How did SVR go Pennant St Dee?

Just okay, kicked 1 and presented well but runs under the ball a little. He’s one of those players who is so close to just grabbing a game by the scruff of the neck, but it’s just not clicking for him

We should pick him, he’s going to be a superstar

Thoughts on Collard @Pennant St Dee? Thought he and Clay Hall were standouts for WA (apart from Curtin of course, who put together a third high quality outing for WA).

Agree. He might be a rookie chance and develop in partnership with his brother.  Just looked like he needed some marking guidance.

Collard doesn’t handle close attention well, which I think may effect him at AFL level, but he has superb skills, lateral movement and is very quick

can't remember if i saw it on here or twitter but someone said something about WCE offering up next years future 1st for a top 5 pick this year, it'll still be pick one but will help them get reid and curtin. Next year will have will ashcroft -tied, tyler welsh -tied and the other two young metro mids who are currently starring you'd imagine will go highly compared to teh country/WA combo they could be looking at this year, in terms of long term retention it could be the smarter business play to take the risk.

The Allies beat Vic Metro and look the goods to take off the championship for the first time. The AFL must be chuffed at the number of promising prospects coming from the northern states and Tassie at the moment.

Suns' Academy trio shine as Allies hammer Vic Metro

Incredible Allies maul Metro

ALLIES 7.1.43 9.4.58 13.6.84 15.9 (99)

VIC METRO 1.0.6 4.1.25 5.5.35 8.7 (55)

GOALS:

Ryley Sanders has rocketed up to my number 1 target. He was BOG yesterday imv.  His pace. His class. His balance. Excellent young mid. Only issue is he’s a Tassie boy.  We’d have to back ourselves to keep him when Tassie team comes in.

that's IF there's a tassie team

back us in to keep him if he's the one

sounds like a nice mix of inside-outside and natural ballwinner

If a Tassie born player decides he want to play for Tasmania then I would think that a club would be very well compensated for losing the player. Tassie team will have a massive bounty of picks and future picks and Tassie players will be worth more to them than drat picks as there would be no go home factor for them to worry about.
If we get 5 years out of a player and then get some very good draft picks in a compromised draft we may end up coming out well in front.

So if we look at the current ladder positions we have picks 8, 15, 26 & 33 as our top 4 picks.

Gold Coast currently have pick 7 and need points, points and more points.

Picks 15 & 26 are worth 1841 points and pick 7 is worth 1644.

Without a doubt we know this and it is highly likely we will have 2 top 10 picks in this draft, assuming Freo and GC both miss the 8.

So then the question is who would we likely take at picks 7 and 8.... which will be pushed out by the GC academy guys.

What about if the suns have pick 4 or 5? What do the points need to be then?

If they have pick 4 or 5 it would be getting tight as to whether they trade it as the bids may come after this pick, but I would say we would have to include pick 33 as well.

Pick 4 is worth 2034 points and 15, 26 & 33 are worth 2404 points.

Have next years first rd pick for trade talks as well.

I reckon Walter will be called out top 3.

Very true. I think in an ideal world GC have pick 5 or 6 and know they have to trade it for extra points.

We will absolutely get involved in this.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
