I've seen this movie before.
And the ending sucked.

Q 1 the forwards actually spread and it worked. But thereafter back to the old all up together.
How difficult is it really for a professional team and coaching staff to try to get that right?

Stafford must go ASAP...forward craft under any degree of pressure hasn't improved since 2021.

How you can have two TFs deep in the goal square and leading out towards the same contest multiple times after so many years in charge is beyond reasoning and unacceptable at AFL level.

Also not sure why we continue persisting with three small forwards, plus ANB (who offered not much in this part of the ground today and not much in general).

Chandler subbed for Jordy tells the tale there.  Gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in the space of three weeks

Can't play JVR & Macca in the same team.  One of them has to go.

As much as i love Harmes his performance was sub par and most likely he'll be straight back out.

No run, no spark, very few forward handballs and play until the last quarter when we had to try with more dare and speed things up.

CB work is still fried vs the better mid set ups with Max & Viney the only regular extractors.  Unfortunately Max isn't the Max we knew in 2021.  Can't play out a match.  Limited to about 2 to 3 quarters at the moment.

Grundy not the player i was hoping he'd be so far.

Need a classy mid with foot speed / finish and one more extractor around stoppages.

Look, I get you're upset with the game, I'm sure almost all of us are, but all of your posts are attacks at Demonlanders.

Do we have to, after every loss, turn on each other? There's plenty to talk about, let's focus on the team. I'm sick of coming onto threads like this and seeing so many people going the "I told you so" route trying to put down anyone who dared during the week to try to see the good parts of what we've been doing and how we could win today.

Little harsh Titan and I do resent being told that all my posts attack other Demonlanders. I've seen and been on the receiving end of much worse attacks from yourself to be honest.

I'm not attacking anyone personally and am simply questioning some pretty useless statistics that are brought up lately to make people feel better about a team that all of a sudden can't score.

As you said there is plenty to discuss though and am happy to do that.

Has to be the worst post of the year. Poster should be banned for writing this garbage.

While people have different views, he is not wrong 24k is poor but he is allowed his opinion on it, that's why it's called a forum where one can express their views right or wrong.

Lots of criticism directed towards the coaches. Some may be warranted but this year has 2020 vibes going on. At the end of 2020 going into 2021, something big happened. The players actually took ownership of their performances and did something about it. We are at the stage again now. The players need to fix this. Do better Ffs.

I’m starting to doubt that this group has the desire to bring home another flag anytime soon

When you can’t nail regulation set shots, while also plying terrible team football, you are never a chance of winning. They ki led all their set shots and we failed to execute. It’s been an issue for a while.

if James Harmes isn’t traded at season’s end, we are surely having a laugh. One of the most selfish and low football IQ games I’ve ever seen. I particularly enjoyed his four metre dab kick on the run inside fifty into Petraccas body

Harmes is easily the dumbest footy player alive. Was really disappointed with his effort today because when he’s on, he has a much higher upside than ANB, Spargo, Chandler etc. But he was trash

Funny, coz ANB and  Spargo were also abysmal

I seem to watch a different game to most. Thought both teams defended well and brought the contest. Dockers went inside 50 with a little more polish and snuck a win which we might have jagged if we took more of our opportunities (especially early on).

Two weeks in a row it's felt like a final in terms of the way the game has been played. I don't think we're far off our best form, but would love to see BBBB get a run. Roo and Tmac just don't get involved enough when they're both in the side

To say supporters are not worthy of the 13th premiership? WTF is that comment? That sits well with you, does it?

They actually need a trip away or something. Time to circle up and have a yarn. The communication onfield was appalling and the lack of stuck tackles tells us that this is all about desire and hunger

... Sure, we had a few key players out, but the best teams deal with that!

Shows how inflexible our team and team plans are.

Be a nice change to win a few clearances for a change. That would make a huge difference.

Today was nothing like a final. This looked like what it was. 2 ordinary teams each trying to make less errors than the opposition. Throw in umpire no. 6 and I should have mowed the grass.

Sorry Harmes has no upside his football one trick pony, as for ANB he is the same panics under pressure always turns his back when he looks like getting tackled but nothing will change for next week.

There is something nqr with us for sure. I remember delighting in 21, how they would all come down the race to the start of each game, laughing and enjoying themselves. Not anymore on both sides of the fence.

Never said that and where did I say that?

When was the last time we played a game where we developed and executed a specific gameplay to beat the opposition?   We play the same predictable football every week -  we’ve been beaten in similar fashion for 12 months yet we don’t change or adjust anything -  during the game or week to week

From the TV footage, Max was very unhappy at the end of Q3 and the commentators were suggesting he was naming names for poor effort. Anyone at the game have a sense of what Max was dirty about?

Max can maybe have a look at himself for playing the “victim” on his haunches after he loses a contest or doesn’t agree with a decision. It sets a tone.

Just now, leave it to deever said:

It's called game plan pure and simple, nothing more nothing less.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
