Where's everyone going to watch Friday night's match?

Recommended Posts

In the comfort of my own home. It's on free to air and I also have foxtel. But before I got it I used to go up to our local club but there was always this annoying guy there who'd yell out go dees in that annoying tone that people do to make fun of us and was just a right royal pain. Plus if you got the opposition fans it was even more annoying.

I'll either be watching on "Premium Chrome Cast" at Chez Fence surround sound Caravan at Beaaautiful Down Town CottonTree caravan Park in MAROOCHYDORE, or The Local Pub!!!

We should start a thread for the most interesting/ exotic/ most remote and or strangest places watched . Perhaps with what people as well.

In my mind' s eye, I can see some die-hard supporter decked out in Dees paraphernalia listening to some crackling old valve radio in the middle of a forest/ lifeboat somewhere.

I was once stranded on a dodgy houseboat on the Clyde River near Batemans Bay having to constantly hold the radio in different positions just to check scores. When I say dodgy, she was perfectly seaworthy unlike my wife and I.

If anyone wants a quick hassle free uncontested divorce,  I do reccomend houseboating with one's partner.

Incidently this reminds me of a Perth mate who had tix for the 21 granny which sadly clashed with his wedding day.

Rather than let the tickets be wasted, he placed an add in the local paper for any one wanting to take his place.

" It's at 4pm @ St Mary's Catholic cathedral. 41 Victoria Square. Her name is Rachael."

I'll see myself out.

Ps Maroochydore is not a bad spot to be in. Especially if you pull in a few fish at half time.

I'd join you Mr oversized pickle, but unfortunately my gulfstreams currently  in the shop having diamonds encrusted into the upholstery.  Maybe next time😄 I'd say enjoy but it seems a tad superfluous.

What a ripper spot to watch it. I hope the Satellite holds up for you unlike my pirated Kayo.

Your humour is often too rich in depth and obscure for me - I’m but a simple person. Keep it up 🙌🏼

Internet makes it too easy these days. Not like pointing the shortwave antenna on the 15 m waveband working the Nan Hai 5 platform outta Wenzhou - East China Sea

I’m up for a half marathon through the hills  in Saturday - but tonight I require a drinking buddy…

good crowd, sound turned well up, good banter, crowd into the game.

probably the best i’ve had in melb is the Rose in Fitzroy although that was many years ago. not sure it’s still the same vibe. we might need to consult the pub connoisseur @Rab D Nesbitt

Hi @Engorged Onion and @DubDee. I must confess that I haven't been there since pre-covid times but I'd say it's still good craic. Always a good idea to call them early in the week to book a table (unless you're happy to stand) and tell them which game you're coming to see. It's usually locals that frequent the place so there's always been a good vibe when I've been there. Good food and a reasonable selection of beers.

But not too far up! Ears are still bleeding from The Crafty Squire during last year's Champions League Final, literally had to leave.

Ah yes, the Aracadia Village Hotel.

I was at Maggie (as the locals call it) last year and had a few drinks at that pub.  Fantastic beach nearby.

However, wouldn't they be screening an NRL match?

Ahh, my friend - that was the Maggie Brewery in Picnic Bay - the other side of the island.  Yes - its NRL centric - > but if you batter your eyelids at the European backpacker staff, or buy enough rounds they'll flick it across to the AFL.

Hope you got to jump in the pool as well :)

oh ok ... I went to the Picnic Bay hotel, but not the Brewery. I also went to Mamma Roma for dinner, which I seem to recall was behind the Brewery?

I had a meal at Mamma Roma's last night - it faces the beach and views across the bay to Townsville, and the beers at the Brewery (far better than the Picnic Bay Hotel) were bloody magnificent last night. Highly recommend the Pilsner to go with a meal at Mamma Romas (which they allow to you take there).

Go Dees! (and if you get a chance again, come back to Maggie, I can't advocate for it enough.  We've got a little abode here, so is good to escape the southern climes - my dear wife and little man, have let me come and have a mini holiday).

But no beers for me tonight - a 21km in 27deg heat with 700m of elevation tomorrow... so just waters in front of the TV tonight 😄

Too much info...probably.🤷‍♂️

Sadly it's probably just fruit salad for me tonight facing the ensuite in my bedroom.

Bt fruit,  I mean mostly grapes.

And by grapes I mean the fermented type.

OK , yes. I'm having wine for dinner.

That's okay because I'm having soup for an entre.

Wild Turkey to be specific.

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die!
