I'm sure I've missed this, but when are teams announced? I thought Friday night teams were always announced on a Wednesday?

With Sparrow out, and with Salem fully fit for the last couple weeks, it'll be tough to resist the urge to play him

I haven't seen it mentioned but Tommo would have to be in consideration for this game.

Be nice to see JS finally give a strong performance and it will be between these two to replace Harrison Petty.

Gut feel or just something you've heard internally?

Rivers out of the back 7 and into Sparrow's midfield spot, and Salem into the back 7.

Can Rivers run out as much midfield time as Sparrow?

I thought we'd go Joel Smith for Petty, but reckon it'll be Melksham going by Goody's presser.

That said, they might feel TMac's ability to go forward or back, may be an additional contingency that gets him a game over Melksham.

Zero chance BB plays IMO. Bookmark it.

I reckon Dixon will play and he’s playing games with us.

Not the concensus of a lot of Port folk...

As @layzie suggests playing an underdone Dixon might prove folly.

Port will bring a lot of pressure. They'll have to as they dont quite have the calibre required across the lines to play something akin to more Their-Game.

They're going to more than likely try to unsettle our-style whilst cribbing a few.

If they try this they'll need to be ahead at 3/4 time.

We're probably better at absorbing pressure than the team theyll likely field.

If Salem has had a 4 week mini preseason then I'd play him. Let him get game time the next 2-3 weeks and have him cherry ripe for the Pies. Also when we play the Pies I'd play Kickett on Daicos and tell him to play him close close close and then run off him everytime we get the ball and watch him flounder like a carp in a dried out summer river.

agree on Salem

Why risk him early. Kossie on Daicos That would be worth watching!!!

I disagree. Why not give Collingwood the headache of deciding who they should play on Pickett? Now, let's get back to this week's game...

This is going to be a tough game, from memory Powell-Pepper always plays well against us.

Nice piece of alliterative tongue twisting. Say three times quickly, "Powell-Pepper plays particularly poorly".

Actually, it's not that hard to say...

We don't really play a full forward and centre half forward. We play 2x tall forwards, 1x forward ruck, Fritsch and 3 speed forwards. One of the tall forwards often plays a defensive role to keep the oppositions best intercept marker away from the play. And we actually want Fritsch to be the deepest forward because of his accuracy.

We are going to plan our forward structure and entries around Aliir, who is a key for them.

Brown has also excellent endurance and often covers the most distance in a game.

Joel Smith to do a defensive fwd role on Alir Alir?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
