Do we also have an important role for Brayshaw in the near future? Our midfield is crowded and we'd rather bring someone with better foot/kicking skills to that midfield group.

A fit and firing Yeo in his prime was one of the best half backs going around. Often was at the heart of most Eagles plays. If you could guarantee his fitness and initiative, you’d trade a 2nd round pick for him.Ā

When was the last time Yeo was fit and firing? Has been injured for a while, 33 games in 3 and a half years

Not sure. HB is not suiting him so far. I feel more and more that we should have let him go.Ā

There must be a market for him, if only limited. Bottom 6 teams could use an experienced player to help develop their young midfield groups. Let's explore what the team can get for him.

Moving on Brayshaw will never happen due to the "Optiks" given he signed a long term extension last season but it is absolutely the right move.

Guy has only ever had truly great seasons in contract years.

Get what you can for him cause in 12 or 24 months time you're gonna have to pay a team to take him.Ā

If the team is serious about competing year on year, they should always keep all options open when it comes to improving the list. That's what Goodwin has been preaching, compete every year build a team to do so.

I agree. When good he is great - but I don’t think HB is his position. He was good on the D wing in 2021 but has been ordinary since bar a few elite games.Ā

He was [censored] in 2021 with the exception of a very good finals series (and grandfinal)

Finished like 13th in the B&F

It’s hard to poll votes in the role he was playing though so you have to give him some credit.

yeh, not a fan of that.Ā  I think we are playing to many small forwards already

I think the likelihood of getting Harley Reid is becoming more and more unlikely every time Fremantle have a win.

I do think that West Coast would be better off trading the coveted number 1# draft pick to recruit more talent. Particularly after their humiliating performance against Sydney over the weekend. Losing by 171 points is horrific! Although I don't have much sympathy for Eagles supporters!

Nevertheless, who ever Jason Taylor takes with the Demon's early draft picks they MUST be excellent kicks and decision makers. I do have faith in the Melbourne recruiting team though.Ā

For the time being, no point worrying about it until the end of the 2023 season.

Yeo absolutely despises Melbourne. Hates us.

Everyone keen on bringing in more talent, but no one ever wants to see our fringe players get dropped. Odd!

Funny that.

I recall this as well. Makes West Coast's failures more enjoyable.Ā

Can Geelong be next please?Ā

Don’t want him. He is one of the biggest downhill skiers going around. Only plays well when the team does, and is the first to go missing when things go south.

I think that the Team that needs Harley Reid the most is Methcoast, I can’t see them giving up a star midfielder that would improve them immediately and Simpson wouldn’t survive the wrath of the supporter base. Imagine giving up Tracc or Oliver to get more picks and they weren’t No.1 and how would he get enough game time squeezing him into our midfield or do we trade out a gun to fit him in??? Imagine the salary cap squeeze this would cause two years down the track, also are we totally happy with the rest of our list, Ā I am not and believe that this year provides an opportunity to snare another 2-3 top line players ala 2019 to help improve the team and keep us in the window longer.!!

That may be true but, does he want to be there? As things stand, the power is on the players side. We experienced it last year with the number 6 who shall not be named.

Is it better for WC to try and get as many draft assets now? otherwise they may be held hostage in 2-3 years time by a player that doesn't want to be there anymore and be unfairly compensated like we were last year.

I’d add that there are a couple of very good WA kids that look like they’ll sit in that 6-15 range who would hold a lot of appeal.

2 was too high for Ginbey (who’s easily in the Eagles best 5 performers this season) last year, but he was who they wanted. I can see a similar scenario this year.

2009 afl draft good example of what west coast could doĀ

Take Dustin Martin pick 3Ā

or pick 5 Ben Cunnington pick 13 Daniel talia and pick 20 nat FyfeĀ

West Coast is in a world of pain and I think picking Reid would work against them;

  • He doesn't want to be there
  • In a 2 team state the pressure will be immense as pick 1 during a huge rebuild, not to mention being theĀ face of it
  • By trading pick 1, they potentially fast-track their rebuild with multiple first-rounders
  • Adding multiple kids will create some comradery ala Oliver / Petracca or Sheezel /Ā Wardlaw, shouldering the load together

Having said that, I'm not sure he suits us either. He's obviously a gun, but we'd be given up almost everything. Whatever happens, I have no reason not to trust Taylor and Lamb and I think we may see a mini shake-up come season end.Ā

Granted, we'll be drafting players that may not see a lot of game time initially, but it won't take long before we see a drop off in performance,Ā  I think we're already seeing it. I'd prefer to bring in some kids when well supported by Gawn / May / Lever / Viney / Oliver / Trac etc - The right kids will make it, just like McVee.Ā

They may trade the pick if Reid is clearly No 1 and they know he won’t stick around.Ā

But GWS will be well placed too.

Or pick 3 flops around those picks…

Freo have to finish bottom 5 for us to be a chance IMO.

Unfortunately rpfc Freo have lifted a notch and can’t see them falling below 10th unless they are hit by serious injuries.!!!

Well, what are you doing about it then. You can’t just wallow on it; sacrifice a goat to a witch doctor like I did and improve our chances!

It's also a good example of what we could do.

In Taylor and Lamb we trust.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
