Alice Springs Match

I'm sure this issue will get sorted and the game will go ahead in Alice. All just a bit of media hot air.

If not, there are only 2 MCG games that weekend and 1 at Marvel so there is plenty of availability to bring the game back to Melbourne. We could even look at GMHBA if there is a cheque attached to it to make up for the cash shortfall that NT would've provided.

We must not accept a game in Darwin. We're playing for sheep stations this year and have the hard running St Kilda at Marvel the following weekend. We can't afford to have our preparation compromised in such a key game (St Kilda). Even last year we ran out of gas the week after playing in a mid 20's Alice Springs day.

8 interstate games is a bit of a shock and definitely too many. The club may have just let this happen in the past but we're at the point where we should be pushing back on this.

Clubs outside Vic have 10 interstate trips a year. The WA clubs travel far exceeds anything we do.

We have fond memories of Alice Springs in 2022, I would recommend that anyone attending hook up with the Demon Army they guided us to best seating handed out flags and allowed us to join in the crowd noise. Great day out in unfamiliar circumstances and who would forget The Kozzie, Kozzie, Kozzie chant as he lit up the ground with six great goals that helped us keep Port at bay.!!!

I'm going and have ordered  (and paid for) tickets but have not received them yet. (Dealing with Ticketmaster must surely provide some atonement for my many sins)

I'm not sure about sitting with the Demon Army though, as I might run into Demonland's resident nut case @WalkingCivilWar - scary thought.

I wonder how many Demonlanders are heading up for the game?

Demonland’s resident nutcase will be watching this match on TV. ☹️

I’ve always wanted to attend an Alice match but it’s beyond my means. The airfare alone would see my son and me on a forced diet for a month. 😭 Mainly him since he eats the equivalent of a small village, livestock included, in a single day. Every day. 😁

I’ll likely watch it at The Sporting Globe in Richmond with others who can’t go for whatever reason.

First time for me also old. I travelled all around Oz but never to Alice.

I should have added that I'm driving.

I intend to take a fairly direct route there but I'm not sure what I'll do for the return. Maybe Uluru , maybe go north for a while and come back through NSW. Suggestions welcome.

It's one hell of a drive Bitters.

But sounds great.

Back when swine flu hit, I loaded up my young family and drove from Melbourne to Port Douglas. Stopped at every Maccas on the way . Took about 2 weeks. The highlight for my 4 year old son was a dead pig on the side of the road not far from Townsville. Oh the memories. Don't know how many times I pointed out the sugercane.

You could swing through Broken Hill. Though not sure what it has to offer and not sure if you need a 4wd. Then sun yourself later on in Mildura.

Personally I think outback SA has more to see especially Cooper Pedy.

Not many roads/choices unfortunately? If you have a 4WD there's always the Birdsville Track. At this time of year it should be cool weather wise with a lot of red earth surrounds.

If I had the time and inclination I'd head up to Kakadu and Darwin ..Cairns. Good luck finding a camp spot at Uluru on short notice

It's probably more the people that make some of these remote places fascinating.  It is pretty cool once you hit the red dirt. It's so iconic

If you do Uluru definitely go on to do Kings Canyon. All 2wd. Google it.

Closer to Alice is the Alice Springs Desert Park.  I thought it would be too touristy… I was wrong, it was very good.

Have fun

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
