Sheesh, people parked their MFCSS in the training thread when mentioned Oliver didn’t train today. I thought everyone would’ve had kittens.😁

If he's not %100, he's one bloke who must be rested.

He cops a hammering every game, so you'd think a week off would be beneficial.

He would be a huge loss, but FMD, if we can't beat the undermanned tiggers without him we're kidding ourselves about being serious contenders.

I noticed you’d mentioned that, DZ. I was surprised no one reacted. I was expecting mass coronaries to take place.

Not gonna lie, it felt all sorts of wrong weaving yellow and black. Especially since I was doing it on my own, and at one point I looked up and there was about a dozen Toiges standing behind watching me, silently. It was one of those what’s wrong with this picture moments.

Haven’t the Club heard of fluvax!

Really hope Dunstan gets an opportunity.

Yes as @layzie says the $23 is for your reserved seat. In theory it's going to be in a better location than a GA seat if you just turn up. "Better" depends on where you prefer to sit though.

I prefer to be behind the goals over the wing but that's not necessarily thought of as "better" by the ticket allocators.

Level 2, behind the goals, Punt rd end.

Can’t go wrong.

Melbourne will give star midfielder Clayton Oliver every chance to prove his fitness ahead of Monday night’s Anzac Eve clash with Richmond after he missed the club’s main training session on Friday, due to flu-like symptoms.

The Demons kept Oliver away from the main group as a precaution as he trained on his own on Friday afternoon.

The players have a day off on Saturday, but Melbourne hopes Oliver will be back with the main group for its captain’s run session on Sunday.

The Demons look set to regain Max Gawn, Jake Lever and Michael Hibberd for the big Anzac Eve clash, while coach Simon Goodwin said Angus Brayshaw could have some more midfield minutes against the Tigers.

Oliver will not miss because of a sniffle. It’s Oliver. He’s played with a broken hand before.
Only if he has Covid will he miss.

Saying he trained away from the group but had symptoms… just what we need is a freaking virus to decimate our side before our bounce back game.. MFCSS running wild.

He's had a crack before Dazzle - he just seems a little below AFL nowadays.

Yeah he'd have to be pretty sick to miss surely. A few days to recover he'll be right!

I don't know why we didn't look for another tall forward given Tmac's foot injury and Weid and Jackson leaving.

Not sure about the voracity of need.

Currently it might be nice to have a walk up starter....and maybe we do.

Ostensibly Tmac was o.k.  ( granted and possibly like yourself  he's a risk in this regard ) The plan  had been Grundy and Gawn to rest fwd..   Hasn't gone to plan .

Brown... meh...

The Roo....  definitely a positive

Point is we have quite some depth.

Schache has his abities and in a fashion is the very filip you address. He doesn't seem to excite too many here....but he has played finals and equitted himself more than fairly.

These players are either good to go when required...or they wouldn't be there surely.

We've had a cup and a half of bad luck/bad timing. It's testing us.

Personally i think the cattle IS there.....it's whether there's good enough selection to back them.

P.s....there's Petty... but cant rob the backs when they're light on

We all remember what Trac dished up last year coming off a flu - if he’s not 95% or better than he shouldn’t play.

Isn't "flu like symptoms" the way they are describing it these days, presumably to prevent triggering the facebook certified medical experts?

Very good point Gawndy

Not to raise the alarm but I’ve just come out the other side of the flu, 1 week properly bed ridden and then 2 weeks well below par to follow.

I’m not old (37) nor am I an elite athlete but I’m fitter than most. This is the sickest I’ve ever been

Hope Clarry is ok

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
