GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon

Yep Hunter, you’re not up to it, scared of contact

I hate to say it.  I love JVR, but he's just not there at the moment.  TMac tries his heart out, but I think the game has past him by now.  Ordinary from Clarry and Trac tonight.  We just don't have a functioning forward line.Cover Fritta and we are gone at the moment.

I thought Petty started in defence

Yeah he did, my bad

Oh please, we had just as much to play for as Essendon.

Good on them for pumping us, we are downhill skiers at the best of times.

People will agree and disagree, fact is we went out in straight sets last year without a whimper.

This performance shows me that if a few are off, do others stand up?

We’ll probably respond next week, then who knows after that.

It’s Essendon FFS.

So we're 5 goals down. Those 5 goals we let both there ruckman kick.

Good they can stand out in the rain and cop it.

This has really shown us up. We can either embrace it and change for the better, or just ignorantly paper over the cracks thinking it will all just sort itself out.

I thought Goodwin had learnt from last year... Maybe we are wrong 🤔

What about the two our ruckman should have kicked.

The lack of leadership is the worst part of this game for me. Nobody has stood up today and wanted to really change the state of play. Embarrassing.

Where the [censored] are our dangerous tackle frees?

Redman can flop around like an ice skater and get one. Petty gets pile driven into the ground with out the ball and gets [censored] all

Our players are slung or pushed so many times after   they have kicked the ball.

Oliver did try to impose himself in the last, too little too late.

May is worrying at the moment.

Getting this to under 20 points would be a huge win.

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
