At least West Coast fought hard and were tackling and working to move the footy right to the end. Hawthorn just stopped playing. Sam Mitchell has NFI.

In other news, no Nenkurvis for Richmond either in two weeks time.

There were literally moments of walking from Hawthorn. I'd be more entertained at a Coffee Club walkathon.

Highest scoring quarter of any team so far this year. And it hadda be Jeremy Cameron Geelong. 😑

And how is Cameron's dicky hamstring going?  Will it last a full year?  When / if it twangs bye bye Geelong.

Taylor constantly suggesting that the Hawks have some chance. The game was over 10 minutes ago. What a moron.

He is just following he script from Channel 7's narrative to pump the game up right until the bleeding obvious. Remember Coll v Bris. The Pies 40 odd points down with 40 seconds left and he asks Daisy do they still have a chance. MORON.

Mackay got graded medium impact for that, and gets a week?

what is happening to our game?

Well tbh when I saw it, I thought a week. A giant runs in and uses his forearm to strike a smaller player on the side of the face, after he has got rid of the ball. Could have been a broken cheekbone, or even a concussion, when he didn’t need to touch him. Could have pushed him, or grabbed him, or actually not touched him. No need for an unexpected forearm to the face/head.

Thats not footy.

Agreed. Totally unnecessary and potentially very harmful. A week is perhaps even a little light, given what else we have seen this season so far.

agree no need for it.

but the impact was low and not worthy of a week imo.

But Kossie got 2 for the potential to cause injury. Same approach I suppose

Never had his eyes on the ball. Plenty of time to size up the situation. Chose to hit high with both forearms.

1-week seems more than reasonable.

agree with all that

what do you think about impact though?  if low it’s not a week

Amidst all the excitement of last night, Stewie Dew quietly stinks it up again. You've got to admire how he goes about it. The supporter must surely be frustrated by now.

Wasn't sure if the singular supporter was intentional, but gees it cracked me up.

This Hawthorn team is worse than any Melbourne team under Neeld or Bailey. They have zero stars. The blokes they brought it, like Frost, Impey and Wingard are all C graders. They may have some young talent, but in my opinion they are headed the same route as the Dees circa 2009-2014. They are really really bad. Funny to hear Hodge still backing his mate Mitchell, but I reckon he will be gone in two years.

Maybe Clarko will have had enough at North Melbourne by then and they'll ask him to come back.

If you were coaching Geelong who would you clear for some nice early draft picks to Hawthorn, seeing as they probably discussed that after the game, because there wouldn't have been much else to talk about.

depends whether they upgrade it for potential harm

that puts us into the realm of afl mysticism and lets face it the afl want the brownbaggers in the finals

true.

the mro always takes the lease controversial decision and leaves it to the appeals or tribunal to be hated.

it’s set up for him to get off imo

Fair question. Given his size and momentum I'd rate it as medium.

Ah Stewie.

Personally I would agree with that, but under the current rules “potential to cause injury “lifts the grading and that is it.

fair enough

the way i see the potential rule (trying to apply logic) is there must be sufficient speed or impact involved that there is potential for a worse outcome. like the kozzi incident. i don’t see that in the mackay incident

Yeah. Interesting to compare approaches. Van Roo had to develop at Casey for 12 months before debuting. Mac is being asked to play as a lockdown defender on the opposition's most dangerous small in his fifth game!

How on earth does McKay get off on that late hit. It is ridiculous, farcical and completely inconsistent with what we have seen in the past.

But are we surprised…. not  one bit. Protected club.
