I think the Blues have gone backwards. They look appalling and will struggle to get into top 8 again.

Norf will have at least 6 wins this year and as much as 10 with a few upsets. I don’t think they are going to be walk overs anymore.

If umpires paid the first free kick they saw, they'd make life much easier for everyone!

North keeps responding. They're made of sterner stuff this season.

It'll be difficult for them to win though. Larkey clearly hampered so no focal point in their forward 50.

North's guernsey not good

It’s a baffling choice. If you enjoyed watching in black and white you’d be rooted.

It is my independent and disinterested opinion that the umpires have been very generous to the Blues this arvo.

Two frees to Curnow were barely discernible and Mackay's goal (their 4th I think) came from him pushing his opponent in the back (two hands!) and out of the marking contest.

Adjuciate correctly and the Blues have at most 2 goals to half time.

Top of the ladder at the end of the round for our boys doesn’t seem all that fanciful at the moment.

(Saints will have a stinker sooner or later)

I saw a Carlton player throw the ball 25 metres out from Norf’s goal. Blues are getting a fair run at it

Well at least it is interesting. Not good quality though.

I don't care how much North have improved if Carlton can-not win today they won't be playing finals this year.

Come on North.

I’d be losing my soul if I was a Norf supporter this umpiring is absolutely one sided. They have kicked 4/5 last goals from extremely dubious decisions.

And Watson trying to justify the decision is like salt in the wound.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
