Can’t se Hibberd getting up with a sore Achilles. I reckon Tomlinson is a chance to replace him as tall defenders will be needed to cover Oscar Allen and Darling.

I’m not sure how this works but someone must have put money on the Eagles. We’re now at $1.30.ECB53519-AEE9-4975-B632-6D167BA85CA5.thumb.jpeg.7592510b53bb1fc5313125c24df2662e.jpeg

I think that’s an error WJ, can’t find anything more than $1.06 for us.

It’s the AFL App with Sportsbet odds. Surely they can’t get such important things wrong?

If that’s from today I’d say the $1.30 would’ve been snapped up in a heartbeat.

I'd keep JJ in, what he doesn't have in burst leg speed is made up with Kossie in the midfield.

Sparrow as sub (unlucky) and if well on top look to bring him in end of the 3rd qrt for Clarry or Trac. Or look to bring Sparrow in a way to reduce mins for Trac and Clarrie.

It wouldn’t be a real time connection which means it would be manually updated by someone.

People be on holidays.

I assume he must have been able to complete full training Thursday, and Tuesday training was just a recovery stretch and walk. I also guess, any imaging of the injury must have not shown any hot spots.

If that training pattern is repeated, how will Hibbo keep fitness without a full workload?

Achilles problems are a fluctuating injury and he has been managing it for a few years now.

Could also be the selectors are playing games, but why, when West are forced to choose from the underdeveloped players.

Remember how they said they were doing Thursday teams? Has that been thrown in the trash again?

As they've done for decades, all teams are announced on Thursday but for Sunday games extended squads are named. The final 22 is trimmed on Friday, and the sub named on game-day as usual.

Tomlinson or Turner me thinks.

Turner isn't named in the squad. If Hibberd is going to be withdrawn, it will be Tomlinson.

Yeah maybe. It has chopped and changed a lot though.

Other than COVID, I think the only change has been the drop time, which used to be 5pm but was moved to 6.20pm to allow Channel 7 to announce the teams "first" during their news bulletin.

During COVID teams were announced the day prior, which was in part at least because we were playing games mid-week to make sure we had a complete season.

That's right.

The Thurs games have confused things a bit for me in recent years. Seemed like yesterday's extended team was announced at 3:30-4 around the time of the presser. It's hard to tell if posts in the pre game on Thurs are actual teams or people still making predictions.

It really hasn't?

During covid it was always announced the day before. Things went back to normal last year.

Well … we might know a little more in 2 hours time when the squad is reduced to 22 players plus the 4 emergencies

As a matter of interest, when is the Casey team expected to be announced?

It could be that the one time it changed was enough to throw me off into an alternate universe that is actually the same.

Have the times of release on the day changed Daz? With the advent of Thurs night footy at least?

I know we have a different team now however I don't ever remember the MFC winning by a " very large margin" hardtack.

74 points in a grand final will do me fine for a very large margin :D

Jordon dropped..

Bizarre decision.

I don’t get it…

For me he leaves at the end of the year and I don’t blame him. Definitely deserved his spot this week

Thought Jordon had his best game in a long time last weekend. Puzzled.

kozzie and TMac in. Both are good additions. We do lose the presence and reliability of Brown. JVR to get more freedom up forward

I don't blame him either and I hope for his own career sake.

He'll be better appreciated somewhere else.

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
