We actually won the clearances in the 2nd but got smashed with our ball use.

Sparrow's the one for me in the middle that needs to get going.

Jv looks a little off, agreed.

Yes forgot about Sparrow.Ā  His reaction time looks pedestrian against the best clubs at times under heat.

Needs to speed things up and drive those legs out of congestion more.

Not sure Petty forward is working. Our key talls look a bit lost and we usually play the 3 key backs.

Petty needs a block of games to see if he can settle in.Ā  Switching him back now is pointless as you're admitting defeat before you've given it a decent go.

Ok so if we're up by 15 plus with 3 minutes to go that's diff.Ā  Then you might throw him (among others) behind the ball

I think throwing him back for match ups is ok.

They have 3 tall forwards, although only started with two on field. If we put him back to cover the third, I've no problem with that change, wouldn't think it was admitting defeat.

Ā

Sydney certainly had more control in that quarter. A small crumbing forward would be handy.Ā

good first half. Swans are top 4 team and have the wood on us.Ā

keep up the intensity and tidy up kicking and we will win this

Its nothing to do with that its the clearance battle and the cleaner ball theyre getting into forward 50 vs our spasmodic clearances and dirtty ball going in thereafter.

The day we can spread from a clearance then drive it forward finding a leading forward almost directly in front on occasions will be a refreshing change.

Chandler, Spargo & Tracc really need to get on their bikes big time in this second half.

JV's in pretty bad form so far.Ā  Looks sluggish, trying to do too much and getting caught....alot.

P.S. Kozzy out is such a killer.Ā

Ā He should go back to late season 21 where his first option was pass it off he has gone back to captain tackled he doesn't have good footy IQ.

Death, taxes and the person that wants to tell everyone if you read the gameday thread you wouldn't know we're in front.Ā

Jeez, there are some ordinary comments on here today!

I'm pretty happy with the performance to date.

I don’t think Oliver has had the greatest starts to the year but I feel much more confident in his set shot goal kicking.Ā

Swans looking much better when they stop playing dirty football and just get on with the game. Losing it when they start their dirty, feux tuff guy rubbish.Ā

And people complaining about Clarry not being damaging enough despite having heaps of it, leading our metres gained and contested possessions and scored involvements including kicking a couple of goals.

Jack Viney give the ball away to often. Dinky kicks, handballs without looking.Ā

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love.Ā ManyĀ issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commandingĀ 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
