Then we have to convince a lady to let him pregnant them!

ZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow. I'm quietly proud of this thread actually. I never expected him, first of all to line up on Burgoyne who I rate ENORMOUSLY, and to beat him SO convincingly....

Good on you Simon....

Your heart beats true...

Amen to that Dan, well said :) !!!

And credit where credit is due to a guy who is doing the best job he can do, and doing it rather well......

Even if that guy is fairly well maligned around here.

If the use of the interchange bench gets a new rule that restricts its use, then players with endurance (like Godfrey) will get a big boost. It will hurt players like Davey though.

Richie Vandenberg.

Godfrey's kicking is not a major problem, his kicks float a bit and he's not great in front of goal. But he hit a lovely pass to Neitz in the last quarter yesterday, and he's done it a number of time this year. He's a slow decision make and can get run down and nothing looks worse - ask Daniel Bell, but that's for a different reason. However there are plenty of worse kicks at MFC. He'll play his 100th this year and he should be retained for 2008 - good on him.

even better, if he is not scoring with the glamours, hopefully he goes and find a girl whos quick and strong...better for the genes...

and an accurate kick... lord knows we need to breed that into his genes.

we need to set up an mfc breading program.

calling all eligible females: physical attributes required: height, pace off the mark, strength, endurance. blond hair (valuable for those brownlow votes). long arms (for key defenders). must be fertile and willing to put up with footballers. anyone with a history of soft tissue injuries need not apply.

After all the criticism Godfrey has copped I find it strange that people are planning a breeding program to produce another one ! I have been a critic, in fact I remain one as he has a number of weaknesses outside his kicking. Last week I went through our list with the red pen, working out who I'd give the flick to if I had my way. I retired quite a few ! Got to Godfrey & thought no - on this season to date, you deserve to keep your spot on the list, ahead of a numbeer of more celebrated & decorated team-mates..

Godders has been ineffectual as a tagger for a few years now.........until the last two weeks. While he could run with a player all day, he would get killed by his target's speed off the mark, particularly at stoppages. His work in the last fortnight has been outstanding - he had Goodes blanketed well before Goodes got hurt. Not sure what he's doing differently - will have to look at the tapes. Perhaps he's setting up to block his target coming out with a clearance rather than standing shoulder to shoulder & getting burnt off. Whatever it is, it is working & let's hope he keeps it up. His 100th game should be celebrated - I suspect the milestone will mean more to Simon than it has to many others.

This thread has taken a disturbing turn.

Leave poor Godders alone and let him breed in peace.

I hear Whitey apperantly had a boy not long ago, which is great news for our future ruck department. Hopefully he has 10cm on his dad though!

He completely nullified one of the best midfielders in the competition today.

Shutting down Shaun Burgoyne is one of the toughest jobs in football. Not only that, he even managed to pick up more disposals than his direct opponent today!

He is in good tagging form at the moment, and he deserves some credit.

Yes Jaded and there is the possibility that he has improved..

Godfrey probably has one of the better football brains at the club. He knows how to get into position, when to jump on the ball and when not too, and he can hit a leading foward if he needs too. He's an ugly football (literally, as well), but he just always brings it. Love the guy.

25 years old.

starting to shut down some of the best midfielders in the comp.

Rarely injured

Has a good engine

gives his all.

He is not the best player we have got. but he is handy as depth.

at the moment i would definatly like to see him kept on for another year.

how many do we have to delist at the end of the year?

the ones up for delisting are

Holland

Bizzell

Brown

Ward

Someone has actually told me he has a pretty hot girlfriend, seems a little hard to believe but who knows!

You keep him if he keeps up his form.... at least he goes hard 100 % and isn't nearing 30 just yet..

Ward, Brown, Wheatley, Ferguson, Jamar (Neaves promoted or draft a ruck), Bizzel all go before Godfrey...

I'm concerned about the constant criticism of Nathan Brown who, I suspect ,would have won votes on Sunday. It's true that he's made mistakes in past matches, but so has Bell who made a couple of shockers on Sunday, eg the last goal of the ist quarter when he left his opponent, was the 3rd Demon to fly in a pack, completely missed the ball and watched his opponent waltz `into goal. If you watch a few games on TV you'll be aware how often the commentators comment on his errors. But he's young and trying hard. So is Brown and I'm amazed that a bloke who gets the ball under tough circumstances so often, gets criticised so often on this site

totally agree! love dogga, always have. anyone who plays with that much tenacity should be respected because we all simply know he can't try any harder. only once has he had less than 19 touches this year as well. there's no way brown can be bagged

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
