Hmmm.  Doesn't look right.

When it is working you should see your info on that screen.  If it is a GA membership it will have a fictitious seat number.  72 hours before the game the barcode should appear on this screen.

I suggest ringing the club, better early in the week as later in the week they will be busy with everyone tracking down barcodes.  Cheers.

and the AFL wonder why crowds are down for many games.
A Ticketing System for Members of a Club should be a very simple process, otherwise let people pay an entrance fee at a gate.

These days you cannot make the quick decision “Let’s go to the Footy” and that choice should be available

During Covid this entire system could have been sorted out

The Sooner Gil packs up his office the better, he is a Media Favorite but this Ticket BS will be a part of his legacy for the average fan

Absolutely you can still 'let's go to the footy', I did that spontaneously with friends last year, you just got to go through the online process. I found it worked if you are patient, so did plenty of friends

If you mean 'let's go and buy a paper ticket with cash at the gate', that went out the window 15 years ago

But you should be able to pay cash at the gate.
“Being Patient” that can mean anywhere between 10 minutes and 2 hours

Guys perhaps I have not been listening since the end of last season but I thought as a GA member I could turn up and flash my new card and get in. Am I wrong?

You are correct, od.  Card will get you in.  It was one of the concessions the AFL made to fan feedback.

It's a sad fact of life that both Ticketek and Ticketmaster are a complete disgrace when it comes to anything resembling customer service or providing a quality customer experience.

And both have absolutely zero accountability or ability to get a refund or change in ticketing.

Really don't understand most peoples frustrations.

Ticketek is perfectly easy to use unless its the Anzac Day onsite in the AFL reserve or finals where it can't deal with the traffic.

It is not difficult to locate your barcodes, enter them into Ticketek, login and select your seats.

Especially with how poor our ticket sales are for round 1. MCC reserved seating is barely touched.

Really?   Yesterday all I could get was high up in level 4.

hi

our game against the team from Tulla is SOLD OUT according to Ticketec.

So, does anyone know if I can get a ticket still with:

>MFC membership

>MFC-MCC membership

>AFL membership?

many thanks

The match is sold out primarily because it is a double header and Port are playing after us.

Recently went to an A League match, it was the most recent Melbourne Derby. An hour before the game, the site crashed! There were 20k people who had purchased ticket forced to lineup while the ticket booths printed physical tickets. It was an absolute disgrace. They are both, Ticketek and Ticketmaster, completely incompetent organisations, but there are no other competitors. As another poster said, it’s a complete duopoly.

I’d hazard a guess that this is the reason that crowds were down over the last 2 seasons. The COVID complications and need to reserve seats are also factors. I’m equally interested in how the MCC changes to seating this year impacts crowd numbers. They are back to a walk up system, albeit a limited walk up. I believe many stayed away last year due to the hassle of having to reserve seats, particularly in the first half of the year.

Didn't this happen at the Ed Sheerhouse concert the other week as well?

People couldn't access their tix on their phones and had to line up at the box office to get a hard copy ticket printed to get in.

I believe some were lucky enough to not get in until half way through the concert 😃

If you are an mfc GA member you can upgrade to a reserved seat for a small fee.  This is really only necessary when it is a big game or the GA seating is not to your liking.

Even Anzac EVe doesn't sell out so GA entry is likely to be in the top tier which suits some people.

More greed on behalf of the AFL.  I honestly hate sitting on level 4.  At last year's Anzac Eve game there was no GA on level one and it was either Richmond members or reserve seating and a lot of it was empty.

The MCG has soo much capasity, yet so much was already reserved for AFL members, MCC members, to not give away club members and or some general public access to decient ground level seating is pretty rank.

Further, at most MFC home games there was usually some GA and or away member seating available on the ground level.  That we are not afforded the same by other clubs is an awful practice.  This sort of might is right of the power clubs and being for the average punter is what the AFL and Gil were supposedly all about.  What a bloody hoax.

How/where can you get one.  I don't recall this being sent out by the club.  Along with many others, I hate the electronic ticketing with a passion.

For this reason I screen shot the barcodes, so you don't have to compete for the network at the same time as thousands of others do download them at the gate.  Phone often gives a message as you take the screen shot that you cannot use that to enter the gate, but it's always worked for me.

Was such a pain at the start of last season when you had to go through not only mobile ticketing, but the service Victoria app and get you bags searched entering the ground.  Try managing that taking two young kids to the footy and then the crappy late night finishes of all the night games we played.  Talk about un family freindly.

For the last two seasons my ticketek MCC Reserve seats email on my phone has not worked so I usually take a paper copy to the game. If I forget I join the queue at the MCC Service counter and they print one out for me. The Ticketek service is negligible and Ticketmaster aren't much better but we shouldn't blame the Club as they are working in the AFL ticketing world. They have very little say as to how or why ticketing is handled the way that it is.

For MCC members, MCC do not release all Reserve seats at once but rather wait to see the response and then release as demand increases.

I received an email today outlining the game day instructions. More importantly if you haven't received your card or you cant download your membership to your phone go to the Memberships Services Team at Gate 3. I'm not sure but I dont think the HUB will be up and running so Gate 3 may well be the only option. Also there are no scarves being given out this year. If you want a card but didn't opt in when you renewed, give the Club a call and ask if you can retroactively opt in for a card.

I think the message to all is to get there a little bit earlier than you would in the past just in case you encounter a problem.

Yep, screen shotting and saving to your phone is a good idea.

After just doing a 4 week road trip holiday, I don't think there's much money being spent on mobile networks either. Taking out the risk from any point of failure is a good idea

Whatever you do though don't screenshot if your phone is in dark mode. Doesn't scan at all.

Just remember to put it back to normal light mode first.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
