Ticketing 2023

sue

Recommended Posts

We are country members who rarely get to a match and not familiar with the MCG booking system.   We are hoping to take 4 interstate/international visitors to the Sydney game in Round 3.  I started the ticktek process and was suprised to see that only a few hours after the opening of the sale of tickets that  Level 2 and 2A Wing and Level 2A Gaol already have their "allocations exhausted" leaving only Level 1 and 4 options.  How is that possible for a non-marquee game? Do they release more allocations later?

(I didn't enter our member barcodes but clicked on the ticket and pricing information button since I wasn't clear at what point I can buy the extra 6 seats. Would I get a different result if I had?)

Any advice greatly appreciated thanks

Majority of those seats are reserved Members areas e.g. Tridents, Redlegs.

All of Level 2 Wing, Level 2 Goal and Level 2A Wing/Goal in the Olympic and Shane Warne stand are reserved seats for Trident/Redlegs Members. They may release part of bay N14 closer to the time if the corporate allocation of that bay is usually not fully taken.

The only level 2 area that will be available from now is behind the goal in the Ponsford stand.

It won't be full there against Sydney but the people that are there, will predominantly be sydney supporters there.

You may think it is a non-marquee game but it is two top four teams playing and for whatever reason our an base shows up to day games and not night games, so there will still be at least 40K there.

My suggestion, purchase general admission tickets so at least you’re in, then get someone on here to purchase guest passes for the Redlegs at $20-$25 each giving you seating on level 2A. If you can’t get guest passes (no reason you shouldn’t be able to) I’d sit in the first row of the great southern stand, Punt rd end behind the goals.

thanks. It's not me who thinks it is a non-marquee game. I was just using what the AFRL says.  All MFC games are marquee to me.

Does anybody know how you can purchase a ticket for the Demon's Round 4 match against the Eagles in Perth?

The ticketmaster website has plenty of Seats available but you need a code to unlock it. Demon's membership numbers, Demons barcode numbers any number I have associated with my membership cannot unlock a single ticket that is available on that website.

I am not a luddite and I have never had any problem securing tickets for any interstate venue including this one. Surely an opposition supporter can get a ticket for this match.

Does anybody have any information that can help me here?

Just had a go.

It looks like at this stage it is just for Eagles members 😟

I'm guessing mfc members will be part of the general public ticket sales which may not open for a few weeks.

Cheers and thanks for the clarification. There won't be many seats left for Dees fans. It's a lot easier to get good seats at Dockers games.

Honestly had no idea this was a thing, just assumed it all happened at the same time for home and away games.

Just guessing, it may be a stadium/ticketmaster/club decision so unique to Optus...

Doesn't help those wanting to plan. I wonder when General Admin goes on sale.

Watch this space on AFL website:  https://www.afl.com.au/fixture?Competition=1&CompSeason=52&MatchTimezone=MY_TIME&Regions=2&ShowBettingOdds=1&GameWeeks=1&Teams=17&Venues=3#byclub

Our Eagles game seems to be the only ones for which tickets aren't currently available.  (Checked Freo games and they are also unavailable right now).

I'm guessing ticket sales will open 2-3 weeks before the game.

Normally I would sit there but I think I might enjoy sitting amongst he rank and file Eagles supporters. Might be nice to remind them about how many premierships we've won on their home ground.

Expect to pay more for good seats then. Absolute rort at Optus:

One of their reserved seat memberships only costs $1675

After doing the Optus Stadium tour in the first week of the year I'd actually really love to see a game there. It's really just flight prices that I can't be bothered with otherwise this would be a great time to get over there for sure.

I did the stadium tour before the Freo game last season. I think I might have to make a yearly pilgrimage to the holy land.

The second the fixture was announced the cost of flights to Perth soared. It’s during school holidays and it’s also Easter weekend.

Up until our bye round, this is the only match I won’t be attending. Partly because of the criminally high airfare and partly because Perth. 😁

    SISTER ACT by Meggs

In the twilight at Frankston Oval, for the first ever match between Melbourne and Hawthorn, the Demons were clinical winning by 59 points and remain undefeated in Season Eight.   The Melbourne team ran out to a wonderful #DeeArmy banner paying tribute to Ron Barassi, ‘a football legend, the greatest Demon’.     So true!   Meggs was super excited to see Irish recruit Aimee Mackin playing her first game.  Aimee quickly showed us that she belongs out there with composure, ga

    ON SONG by Meggs

Meggs asks is it time to heave ho the melodies and words of yesteryear and update Club theme songs with some Australian composers and singers?     What prompted this reflection was the discovery that this week’s combatants’ themes were written by the same early 20th century American composer, George M. Cohan.     Cohan’s melodies The Yankee Doodle Boy and You’re a Grand Old Flag have been used by Hawthorn since 1956 and Melbourne since 1912.   Even earlier, the clu

    RUN UNBEATEN by Meggs

The Demons withstood a spirited challenge from the Western Bulldogs in the 10th anniversary of the Hampson-Hardeman Cup to run away with it in the last quarter and take their unbeaten run to 12 wins on the trot, an AFLW record.   The Doggies were tenacious and their losing score of 6.5.41 was the highest score against Melbourne since their last loss against Brisbane in Round 4 on 18 September 2022.   With the sad passing of AFL football legend Ronald Dale Barassi, champion player

    LEARNINGS OR BURNINGS by GOTO

Well, the 2023 season is over for the Demons after a two point loss to the Blues in the First Semi Final. All season WE have been hearing about the “learnings” that the team needed to make after each loss, but how much have we actually learnt when they:   1. Lost four successive finals at our own home ground;   2. Fell in five of their last six losses despite having more shots at goal and in the sixth, they had an equal number of shots;   3. Lost seven games by under two

    LOST DOGS by Meggs

The Western Bulldogs and the Demons have history. Prior to the creation of the AFLW league, the AFL ran four years of exhibition matches featuring our two teams between 2013 and 2016. The winner holds the Hampson-Hardeman Cup, in honour of two women who were founders of the national women’s football competition. After 13 games the Demons hold nine wins, four losses record and currently hold the Cup after trouncing the Dogs last year by 64 points. The exhibition games were a precursor t
