I don't want to lose Spargo for a late 2nd or 3rd, his semi final showed what we'd been missing - but if this is in someway connected with trading Our Firsts and Spargo for that pick #2 and then coming at WCE with an ultimatum on Reid/Curtin, then its a smart move - If North were willing.

Agreed,

We will wait and see what happens.

Would love McLean but he seems the one they'd be keeping out of this lot

Logan McDonald and McLean are no chance.

Amartey might be a chance.

His younger brother in the draft this year on the other hand... he's got potential.

Willem will be the best of the lot of them. Still 2 years away though.

Spargo leaving would not surprise me. Clearly been unhappy for most of the year and it's a position we have multiple options in including AMW (who needs to be in the team soon), and McAdam, who is taller but still not a big forward.

We really are following the Richmond model of losing all our premiership small forwards. If only we'd followed with the key forward acquisition ...they wouldn't have won #2 or 3 without Lynch imo. Using Jackson's dollars on Grundy was a massive mistake.

Which key forward were you thinking of?

Grundy was a mistake but only for one year. Sydney will now take that contract over. We gambled on Gawndy, it didn’t work, okay we move on. Not the end of the world.

Spargo wouldn’t be either if he left. He’s not Tom Papley. Uses the ball well but doesn’t get enough of it and doesn’t kick enough goals for a small forward.

Not sure why you’re potting the Richmond model. It won three flags.

Charlie Spargo the only forward that lowers his eyes and usually finds a target as he showed against Carlton

That Charlie Spargo????

If Charlie was a couple inches taller he'd be an absolute weapon of a midfielder

Then again, something about my grandma having wheels.....

Grundy wasn't si much a mistake...though i can only agree an argument can be made ( a la rpfc ) that we never should have entertained it...better other options/deals.

But , imo, where we truly [censored] up was not reappraising where we were and the talent on offer and rethinking how to use.

Exhibit A .. the last game ..

We needto be far more astute and inventive.

Yeah the one who gets his hands on the footy about 9 times a game and doesn’t kick goals. That ‘forward’.

McAdam isn't as good and is already 29 Dont really know why we are interested

A good 3 to 4 years probably.

Ideal.

Well let’s hope none of our players hurt themselves doing stupid [censored] on mad Monday.

Silly to think Maysie would do anything dumb.

I'm pretty surprised by the Mcadam interest, i wouldn't have thought he was in our best 22

Interesting.

I back our FD in to make some moves, and there could be a couple on the trade block.

If you believe what you’re reading on reddit I have some magic beans to sell you.

I think I would prefer to get Silvagni than Melksham based on the injury, age and Silvagni’s ability to play second ruck.

Silvagni was recontacted a few weeks ago.

9 effective possessions normally

I am actually surprised there is interest for Harmes and JJ tbh

They'd be in the first 12 picked at at least six clubs.

The great thing about Grundy to Sydney, is that I noticed some of their fans last week saying they are happy (or OK) to do it for pick 11. They think he's the missing piece that they've not been able to get right for the last 5-10 years, which would've taken them all the way. And after academy it will be 15 or so and somewhere approaching his value. Paraphrasing: "Its overs but [censored] it just get it done, we can't go into next year with Ladhams" etc

Couldn't agree more @John Demonic. It's a seller's market I recon.

(If the Filth are rolled in the next few weeks, they might want Grundy back.)

Saw this rumour on Reddit about Spargo. Not sure if it's just drawing conclusions based on family links or they're actual "small rumblings"

"Ins are likely to be Stephens and Fisher though there seems to be some small rumblings about Charlie Spargo which is a watch this space as he has family links with North and Clarko. A mature defender or two as well but maybe the state leagues for these."

Spargo might himself request a fresh start

Averages 10 touches and 0.6 goals a game across his seven year career to date. Hasn’t measurably improved over the past 24 months.

Do you honestly think that’s good enough from a small forward? That’s the bar you’re going to set?

I hope one of them snaps him up, for his sake and ours

He'd fit in perfectly at Tigers or Dons!!!

No doubt he's struggled over the past 24 months, but his performance against Carlton is where it needs to be. Still only 23.

Charlie would be in my side.

Effectively a Melksham replacement

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
