Long May it continue.

Article on the AFL site pumping the Blues up about how tough and intense their preseason training has been.

Nek minnut.

Only thing I have observed from this Swans v Blues game is Carlton’s lack of a sponsor on the shorts. Hope they don’t find one.

OK, it’s the end of the working week. It’s Friday night and the Aussie’s have won in Indore. Time to settle in for some pre-season footy. Have a look a couple of clubs, take some SuperCoach notes and just chill on a beautiful Friday night. And then…….Dermie and Derwayne spoil everything. My god those guys are just the worst. Does Derwayne think Hollands has a good work rate???. Early rant over. Go Dees.

Tim Kelly stinking it up again.  With the benefit of hindsight, one of the worst trades in history (for Wet Toast that is, Geelong laughing all the way to the bank)

Complete total waste of money and draft capital.

You could call it a capital embarrassment come to think of it.

Have liked the look of Ginbey. Sad seeing Hunt in Eagles colours but wish him nothing but the best.

Sure is. But I avoid the sadness simply by turning off the TV…

😁

Might have been just a practise match but the Weid di himself no favours. Sounds familiar.

I actually thought they were both rubbish with one side flattered by kicking straight. Fair enough St Kilda are missing their forward line, but I didn't see much to write home about - the game looked like a race for the spoon. Parish was unforgivably pathetic. The bummers should trade him for someone who has a crack (practice match or not).

I watched about 5 mins, looked like a total tyre fire of a game.

Was he wasteful or just plain insipid?

Barely got a touch and jogged around. I hope for his sake, Scott told him to take it easy.

Oskar Baker gets Dogs first goal.

Played a very good first quarter and is Bevo’s standout pre season performer.

You’d think he’ll play round one based one his first half today. Looked very good.  Could be Lachie Hunter vs Sauce on one wing and Bailey Smith vs Lingers on the other.

My early prediction for Umpires’ Pet of the year, is Bailey Smith. 4 blatant holding the balls called play on and he gets touched and soft free.

Dogs look great in bruise free games. Umps still love them too.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
