You'd think he'd be given substantial game time against North and Free.

if he does, i expect he'll be in the rd 1 team by my reckoning

for the most part, goodwin likes to play a settled side in the pre-season

You must have missed last half of 2024. If you are going to comment please br accurate.

Goody  would not have made Jeffo an emergency 3 weeks in a row at the end of the season without the actual improvement he has actually made.

Many in the Club are looking forward to him continuing on with his impressive development

It is disappointing to read of criticism that is inaccurate.

Credit where credit is due please.

Well he has been known to gift people games ie McAdam

Um this is a JEFFO Watch thread Exclusively!

Haha happy to have Melky on watch too, would love to see him play all games he is so important both physically and mentally to our team...would love to see both of them in the forward line somewhere, Melky being the wise sage to the young guns like Jeffo and JVR and Turner.

Cheap gift = 3 games!

After 2 you could see he wasn't up to it.

Oh yeah! 53 games and only a 1.38 goal average!

Lets compare that to some other AFL players who are ‘up to it’.

Bobby Hill 88 games 1.10 av

Nick Watson 18 games 1.39 av

Jack Ginnivan 65 games 1.32 av

Kysaiah 106 games 1.52 av

Please nothing to do with Jeffo and he ultimately did not play but was an emergency.

My point was to be accurate and not just repeat rubbish from many people who have never seen Jeffo play as an improved VFL player who kicked 30 goals in 17 games at the same average as JVR did in his pre and second VFL season with Casey.

You also got his years wrong saying 3 and not correctly 2.

Not your greatest post Jnrmac.

I am talking about McAdam not Jefferson.

Um this should be an exclusive "Jeffo" only site by my understanding! 🤪

It's been a Goodwin trademark for the last 3 years. Rushing players back in despite them being unfit or out of form - Gawn, Salem, Petty, May, Lever, Langdon, Spargo & others all played when they clearly should not have.

Yep May definitely shouldnt have played in the GF.  Salem is always going to be injury prone so he never comes back...

No point in having everyone cherry ripe and not playing in the finals.

Because despite people glazing over vfl players our depth has been bog ordinary and our best players at 70% fit are better than the alternatives. You also get a year like 2021 health wise about once in 100 years, most of the time you’re carrying guys below their best. I hope there’s most of a squad mentality this year but it’s going to take guys like Jeffo showing he’s physically and mentally ready for that opportunity.

The worst of those errors was Spargo in the opening round last year. That was a costly and strange panic decision.

Yes and Max should not have played in the Sydney game either - he had the flu & was very poor. He has to stop playing when he's unfit or injured. Maybe that was ok when he was younger but it is now detrimental to the team.

Did he take it?

(Touch of the head drops, too...)

It's all grist, though, for his improvement mill.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
