Could never have guessed

Did anyone actually see any of his 4 goals ?

Ive seen very little to think he is ready to compete at AFL level so far.

Sick of hearing nuffy supporters begging for Fullerton and Jefferson.

You mean you were only partially invested in it throughout the year?

Yee gads!

Im all in favour of a game before the seasons end but imo thats all he's physically ready for...ie give him a taste to get him invested in having the pre season of his life.

I am a fan of Jeffo, though not as big as Picket Fence and have posted since last year I thought he would make it, given time.

While I am happy for him to get a game this year, we shouldn’t expect too much, given the way we are playing and the fact that he will be nervous and won’t have played with most of his teammates before.

I hope we don’t start rubbishing him if his first game is a poor one. He is showing a bit now and hopefully he and JVR can form a great key forward combo for us for years to come.

I am one of those who didn’t think he’d make it at the start of the season. I am still a tad skeptical but I am 100% aligned to Fence in that he should be played to expose him to the level prior to next year.

My expectations for him this year are low; hit the contest hard, show some nous in drawing the footy and chase defensively. Anything above and beyond that is a win at this stage.

I doubt Jefferson could have less impact than Melksham has in the past two weeks. My only fear is that our ball movement and forward structures are so dysfunctional that playing him at this time could be seriously detrimental to his confidence and development.

You think he’d rock up not knowing how we’re tracking right now? He’s not a stranger to our team. He’d know only too well what to expect. There are professionals at the club who would be preparing him for a debut regardless of how we’re currently doing.

Even Jeffo’s mum is not as big a fan as Pickett Fence. 🤣

He's kicked a bag on more than one occasion, the time has come to give Big Jeffo a taste of AFL footy.

Give the lad something to strive for and possibly cement his position over the pre season.

It's time to unleash Big Jeffo into the big time.

She is concerned with his consistency of keeping his bedroom clean… but picket fence has looked past this

You’re like the coherent, sedate, perfectly sane version of Pickett Fence.

Yep agree.

JVR has been on record saying that those AFL games in his first year gave him the insight into how hard he needed to work in the off season in terms of his strengths and fitness.

Pretty much said that getting a feel for senior bodies is what set him up for a strong pre season in terms of knowing here he had to get to compete against the bigger bodies.

WOW WCW, Sensible, Incisive and knowledgeable football post! MORE OF THIS GAL!!!🤩

If the AFL creates a new rule that WINS in Rounds 22-24 count as 4 points for the following year for teams outside of the finals as a sort of handicap on the finals teams , does that mean we can play Jeffo? It's technically a 2025 game then!

Are you implying this is my only sensible, incisive and knowledgeable Football post? Coz you’re not far wrong, it probs is 😅

PF, generally a lot of what you say is utter cr@p imvho. But I absolutely love your passion for certain players, in this case our boy Matty J. And fwiw I have a feeling he will debut this week. 🤞🏽

Where are we at now for Jefferson's goal tally this year? He must be above 30 now, that's with a few games early in season in defence.

Has played 16 games this year and has kicked 29.19

If you want to include last year, he's played a total of 36 VFL games and has kicked 52 goals in the two years he's played VFL.

I think I heard during the broadcast that he was the leader in AFL listed players goal kicking ladder.

he's 8th on the vfl goalkicker's tally with 29.19 from 16 games, of which i think the first three were played in defence

averages per game

  • 9.6 disposals
    • 6.2 kicks
    • 3.4 handballs
  • 3.8 marks
  • 1.9 tackles
  • 2 goals a game (probably closer to 2.5, 3 for games played forward)

His stats might be a bit better if not for his poor technique and execution when kicking for goal - lots of OOTFs and not making the distance efforts I suspect

This is an area of his game that needs a lot of work - that and his second efforts which to be fair seem to be improving slightly

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
