Fantastic. Just yes pure brilliant. Dees are Premiers. Well done to Daisy Pearce, Karen Paxman, Kate Hore, Lil Mithven, Taylah Harris, and all the team and the coach Mick Stinnear! Go you good things! GO DEES! P R E M I E R S!

8 minutes into the game - two goals to nil. If you told me they would not kick another I would not have believed you.

A combination of excellent tactics from the coach, unbelievable chasing and tackling, and skill from the girls.

so proud and happy. I’m actually surprised how much this means to me after only 7 seasons

YESSSS!!! So well deserved. Not happy with the lions receiving BOG, the only reason their backs had a chance to be in the game was the excellent work of West, Hanks and Paxman getting the ball forward, BOG on the losing team should be reserved for absolutely stellar performances. Anyway, you bloody beauty! What a performance, beat them away, on a weird new deck, with the umpires giving us nothing. Go Dees!

I reckon it’s because this team is easy to invest in. They are so openly engaged with playing solely for the joy of the game and each other that it’s impossible not to find it meaningful. Add to that how meaningful is the rise of the women’s game in the past 7 years after 157 years of being unwanted at the highest level, and now a premiership for the ORIGINAL club - of both the men’s and women’s game, and there it is. Just great stuff!

We've done it! We are premiers. Go Daisy, Go Tayla, go everyone! We absolutely deserved this to the nth degree. This is a champion team and a champion club.

We are a silverware club now! So proud of these girls, so so proud.

How good is being a Dees fan DC! So worth it!

i still want to know what happened to the last kick just before the siren.

it looked to be heading for the goals, but they cut the video of the ball before we could see

anyone who was there see where the ball ended up?

If that crossed the goal line and scored and not added to the final score that's just amateur hour, controlling umpire should have given the all clear. Don't they even know the rules at this level?

What a mark Hanks

As Daisy said, Hanks is the League's most underrated player.

Well done girls on a historic first flag for the Dees AFLW team.

As Daisy said men’s flag, Casey flag, VFLW preliminary final and now AFLW flag.

Dees travelling ok atm.

Imagine if the men’s AFL side had won it this year as well. Would have been a long while before any club could claim that trifecta. Heck, 2/3 is even tough.

Reckon we can do the double next year. AFL and AFLW flags. That would be some achievement.

Daisy can retire on top. I reckon she has gotten everything out of herself. She will go down as a Demon legend. Absolute trailblazer and one of the toughest chicks I can think of

I'm absolutely rapt and we defended so well keeping them goaless after quarter time but we won a gf only kicking 2 goals.

Like if I didn't support one of these teams I'd be saying that was a very very low scoring gf and probably should have been higher scoring

Yeah but that means she'll start her coaching at Geelong.

Are we still talking about her footy career?

Congrats to all the girls especially Daisy. What an inspiration! Great to see another Premiership cup. Gutsy win.

Wowee what a day!
Just got the kids to sleep, they were still buzzing, as am I.
What an amazing effort by our girls. I was as glum as could be at Q time, they were all over us. But we dug in with absolute resilience and determination, matching and bettering the Brions’ pressure game. An absolute slog.
At the start of the last, I was a pacing nervous wreck when one of my girls said “relax, dad, we’re going to win”. I offered her top dollar for her magical crystal ball at the end! And talk about emotional reward for investment, I was a blubbering mess of tears watching Daisy make that raw post game interview!
So proud of this group. And of the wider AFLW for empowering girls and women through our great game. The comp is as old as my twin girls, and as I watch both grow, I feel so grateful they have these female role models to look up to.

And at the risk of being ungracious, can I just say a big ‘SUCKED IN’ to the AFL(W) hierarchy and the wider football media.
Everyone had this game already won by the Brions , creating a narrative they are the unbeatable darlings and making a bloody shamozzle out of every aspect of organising this GF, putting us under every imaginable disadvantage.
And we went up there and [censored] did it despite everything! Get a dog up yas!
GO YOU MIGHTY DEMONS

❤️💙🏆❤️💙

Does anyone know if there’s going to be any premiership merch available?
Most specifically, a team poster? My kids rightfully pointed out they’ll need a girls poster to match the boys!

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
