Lever very borderline for Saturday according to CH 10 news.

How many ankle injuries has be had since round 1 2022??

He does roll ankles very frequently, I wonder why is that.

Does like Woewodin is tracking well and in line for a possible return this week from the dislocated finger.

I have a theory on his ankles.

I've known only a couple lads over the years who have made the firsts in the big time.  I remember talking with two different players at different teams and they both said it was mandatory for them to tape there ankles to prevent rolling them in games.

One bloke had knee worries so he used to cut his tape after the physios were done.  In his mind, he'd rather roll an ankle rather than have it supported and place extra stress on his knees.

I wonder if Lever is one of the few who doesn't tape his ankles to protect his knees as well with the history he's had.

It really is an average joint the ankle. It's supposed to hold your whole body up for crying out loud!

And that means a further update on the list

10 year Thornbury player here. Definitely enjoyed a beer with opponents afterwards, but I always kept an eye on 2-3 team-mates that had the potential to explode.

the teams i hated for sheer thuggery were port melbourne and oakleigh districts (old federal league).   for port melbourne you can add their supporters including old crones who delighted in spitting on you as you ran through the race.

oakleigh districts probably worse. their whole game plan was based around intimidation led by captain/coach ex demon peter brenchley (who off the ground miraculously turned into a plum in the mouth gentleman)

Did not mind Thornbury,  I played with UHSOB, couple of suburbs away, so tough match, tough to support the seniors but never really a problem, but we never over stayed our welcome.  Only played a couple of times about  the 1980's if i remember. All a bit of a blur now, throw in a marriage and breakup, I do not remember and not sure i want to remember it all.   If I remember Thornbury had one neighbour club they absolutely hated and same the other way.

Anyway   Go Dees

Yes I remember Oakleigh Districts in the 70's   sounds the same as Doveton in the 80's. wasnt really safe during daylight if you played for their opposition.

My old man used to play for Latrobe uni vafa in the 80s, always remember him saying that whitefriars were the dirtiest of the lot by far.

Joel S myth perennially at the doctors, when will the club give up on him? Waste of a spot in my view!

Can confirm its averageness, currently rehabbing a sprained ankle myself.

The joint sporadically decides to hate me. The villain origin story being a game of indoor soccer in my early 20s when it decided to go rogue.

Yeah think he played C grade back then, F grade was hilarious to watch no offence.

Share your hatred of Port Melbourne.  Played 3rds VFA football against them. Team-mate threatened with a gun by a supporter over the fence. I was king hit by a supporter from behind coming off the ground.  I was also hit when watching in the crowd the year before.

I remember playing against UHSOB. Enjoyable. Also remember playing against La Trobe Uni. They once described playing against us was like playing against cartoon characters because so many Thornbury players had tattoos. We read it and several of us that didn't have tatts decided to buy several temp ones and put them everywhere including our faces. They looked in shock and we led by 15 goals at half-time 🤣

The neighbour club you recall was Bulleeen United. Those matches weren't fun. Actually dangerous, ugly affairs.

2 weeks ago a Salem family member told me Christian would ready to go in 4 weeks. So 2 to go.

Terrible decision to being him back on after his injury when the game was over already ... makes no sense and makes you wonder with all the monitoring they do why they can't make the decisions that matter most

Any sign of Harmes returning?  Track watchers?  Kev??

Lever out is a real bugger.  Our backline uaually struggles without one of wither him or May not playing.

Tomo in to replace but he's not like for like.

It"s a pitty Disco wasn't up & about as he may have been in the mix to replace if he had some games under his belt & in decent form.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
