North Melbourne can't take a trick. Their board must be in full blown meltdown mode.

I also can't imagine this would help Yze in his pursuit of a senior role, although there is absolutely nothing to suggest he was at all involved. It's just the optics really.

That's right, think everyone's future is frozen until the AFL does their own investigation.

I mean, the ABC would have had to cover off a lot of things to get this to the public. The implications on them would be enormous if it’s found to be untrue.

I don’t doubt that the accused would try and deny it, because it will ruin them

Having worked with the ABC, this has to be water tight...

Russell Jackson is no scrub either and does his research. Broke the story on the treatment of Robbie Muir during his St Kilda years.

He's a brilliant journalist.

Surely they must have some sort of behavioural exit clause in their contract? Demonland lawyers on here know what are likely standard inclusions?

I think it's less about the payout, which I am sure the AFL will cover, and more about the fact that they finally landed what they thought was a master coach.

Now they will need to start again.

"Brisbane is considering whether to temporarily stand down senior coach Chris Fagan pending the results of an investigation into allegations of treatment of Indigenous players at Hawthorn.

Former Hawks staffer Fagan has been devastated and blindsided by the allegations and he has told he has no knowledge of the meetings that have been alleged by former Hawthorn indigenous players.

Those allegations include a player being told he and his partner should terminate a pregnancy.

But as the Lions work through the fallout the Herald Sun understands one possibility is standing him down until the investigation is complete and the findings returned."

The people accused will just deny it, so it becomes a case of one word against another.

There is surely a mountain of evidence here. Why would Hawthorn themselves launch an investigation into their own culture if they didn't think anything was wrong?

Doesn't matter what's in the contract.  North's problem is that they thought they had secured a great coach in dire times and suddenly they might not.

This is very hard to comprehend. You’d have to wonder what this means for the football club in terms of how it recovers. This kind of thing casts doubt over its ongoing survival. What kind of an institution behaves like this? What possible rehabilitation measures can it take to redeem itself or regain confidence that it can be entrusted with the development of young men. I wouldn’t want my children drafted to the Hawks and I’m sure many others wouldn’t either.

Needless to say, Clarkson and Fagan are finished. Not sure about the other coaches at the time but if I was the MFC I’d be asking very hard questions of Yze.

Goes without saying the allegations need to be proved but the sources are impeccable.

Possibly but how can you prove that Clarkson said to get an abortion?

But you can adduce evidence that lends the claim credible, for example by bringing forward other who were told that at the time.

My understanding is that the investigation was launched by Hawthorn after the Jeff Kennett and Shannyn Ah Sam-Rioli issue was published.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
