I’d be interested in our recruiters thought on Rowe from the crows. Our small fwd stocks are a bit on after Bedford leaving

I really like Mitch Wallis. 2020 might be too long ago now to use as an accurate form guide, but he had a great year and towelled us up on the Gold Coast. Excellent 1-on-1 and a deadeye in front of goal. From all reports a great guy to have around the club too.

I'd be surprised if we were interested in him as Melksham plays a very similar role and we're keeping him another year. But some food for thought...

Cutler on a wing  or HB or HF might be a chance Generally a longish kick and accurate also. Think he is around or under 25  so good upside if he grabs his chance.

I would have had a crack at Olly Henry instead of Grundy but it is what it is..

Didn't want to go any where but Cattery.

Do we have anyone to who fits that category? Harmes and Gus are best 22 and I’m sure we investigated both going.

Bedford and Hunt, by choice or otherwise are doing exactly that.

Tomlinson is the obvious one and we’re clearly trying.

T Mc and Ben Brown I doubt we could move without significant dumping. Probably take 2nd round picks and/or paying significant amounts of their wages to find them new homes. Both still arguably best 22.

You are kidding about Gus, who is an A grader with rare versatility and in top 5 of B and F. We are not Hawthorn moulding a Flag from a masters Mess!!

north are hoping for their extra rookie spots to add walker and turner back on i believe. JA and clarko havent got great history so his appointment and andersons contract expiring at the same time was bad timing for him.

if anyone is suggesting we pick up tom cutler, then you clearly have never seen him play.

Would Cutler be the steak knives or the bloke who makes them?

Agree with @FrothiesLiam that Josh Walker might be worth a go on the rookie list.

Personally I'm keen on Harry Boyd, but if he's gone before we have a chance to rookie list him, Josh Walker would be worth a punt.

A bit like Majak Daw, Walker can play ruck as well as key defence (where he's probably best) and key forward (was Brisbane's leading goal kicker in 2016).

Turns 30 next month, so could certainly do a couple of years on the rookie list and helps provide depth for us in an area of the ground we need some cover.

That being said, again I'd prefer Harry Boyd.

Collingwood have just delisted Caleb Poulter,  20yo kid from SA who played 11 games in his first season and looked like a great prospect.

Not sure why he didn't get an opportunity at Collingwood maybe because they have a lot in that position,  would be a great pick up IMO, young has played at the AFL level and a wingman which is a area we are shallow in.

A “no” from me.  He showed great talent in under 18s with the only knock being “intensity” and defensive side of his game.   Poulter is a youngster that looked like he used his natural talents in under age footy to excel and his left foot delivery and range is excellent, but I’m not sure the limitations in his game can meet the demands in AFL. He is still young and will probably go back home and get rookied by Power or Crows or into the SANFL in ‘23.

We never should not consider some rejects from delisted Lists of the other 17 Clubs.

We D/Lers do however look and post hopefully just like a hungry person would raid the rubbish bins all along your front nature strips. Touch of the real desperates!!

Never stop trying.

"Never should not". I think that means we should. Double negatives do my head in, waste of words really.

I don't disagree.

Daw, Brown, Brown, Dunstan were all those type players.  in terms of Key position depth they are perfect, but only one or two.

We should sneak in and rookie Cooper Murley in the rookie draft before Collingwood get a chance.

Putting national draft picks through the rookie list is very cheeky and should be punished.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrow’s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the team’s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at season’s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
