This is not Melbourne. If they lose this from here it would be the worst choke in the history of the game.

I would have thought the Pies choke in 1970 grand final - where they were 7 goals down at half time (I think) against Carlton - would be worse. Let’s hope history repeats.

Reid should never have played, especially when they had other talls like McDonald and Amarty fit and ready. Swans weren’t strong enough in the air to cover him if he struggled.

So 1970 and 44 point adrift when Barassi said Handball Handball Handball. But they were playing the Pies so it was a lot easier.

It was a pretty bloody important game!

True. But Sydney don’t have it in them.
I hope I am wrong because nothing would please me more than a Geelong choke honestly.

I’d much rather watch something like this right now…

Clarry needs a stylist. No one of his complexion should be wearing that red.

It’s interesting to see sides fall away from one game to the next.

- Reid has been huge lately, massive loss

- Swans pressure being nullified by Geelong accurate kicking and dominance in the air

- Heeney hardly sighted, having a mare

Buddy Buddy Buddy. The most over rated footballer over the past 2 seasons. There I’ve said it.

Jeelong haven’t given the Swans any space to move. That has created the Dominance

Half time entertainment going about as well as the Swans.

Yep, that temper trap song wasn’t the best.

Lucky he signed that contract last week. On the plus said Sydney has been so bad there is only one way they can go.

Clearly blew 99% of the entertainment budget on Robbie

Might have something to do with our game plan vs the frenetic attack at all costs stuff Geelong dished up to them in the first quarter, I suspect.

Yes man v man almost everywhere in the first 10 minutes or so Mr Hood.  Think the bigger taller bodies of the Cats plus the all ground pressure unsettled the Sawns.  Especially their younger brigade.  The Swans have a few more sub 50 gamers (effectively rookies) than most finalists i believe.

It’s a great song. It was just brutally murdered in cold blood.

There is more talent on Robbie's left buttock than pretty much that entire bunch other than the drummer (not bad!)

Yeah agree with WCW it is a good song that was just a meatloaf type performance sadly.

The half time entertainment started as poorly as the Swans.

Pathetic would be overly generous

So, even after feeling OK having had at least made the semi-finals, and the Swans being in the GF, it now looks as though I have to endure the Cats winning.  There is not enough Shiraz in the whole of Victoria to make that thought palatable. For the love of all things sacred, please no...

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
