No mention of that premier ski resort, Thredbo, as part of our our snow get aways.

It has better runs and apreski, than Buller, though Buller is best for families and kids.

From those posts Kozzie seems to have been forgotten.

He is some great form at the minute. Fritta and bbb seem to have their confidence back.

Trac was almost back to his best against the lions.

Our backline is much more settled and consistent.

The tag  team of Jackson...Gawn should worry swannies.

Yea he should give back the Norm Smith and Oliver should refuse accepting the Brownlow.

Clarry and Traccs field kicking ain't too bad it's their kicking for goal where they need a boot in the khyber. Hopefully we can use the ball as well as we did against Brizzy.

Lived in Sydney in 1997 for 6 months. Probably the most overrated city on the planet. Weather doesnt bother me but it rained heavily almost every evening i was there.

Why do we still have these stupid ski jokes. If you surveyed 1000 people at Bulla   i bet Hawks, Blues even Pies supporters will dominate.

There are loads of rich Collingwood supporters. I remember many were at Melbourne Grammar. Some of the most prominent lawyers and surgeons are pies fans .

Dees by 6 goals.

Hotham and falls folks make jokes about Buller but the jokes on them coz when Buller is top to bottom it’s fairly ipic!!

Haven't skied in Australia for 15yrs. I get a bit upset when I miss part of preseason sking OS.

Yep he said to me he was gonna ask Goody to give Pickett a run on the ball too..

Does anyone else feel like we're just about to shift into another gear and steamroll through to the GF like last year?

The whole snow thing is really starting to get on my nerves especially with this mob, they couldn’t even keep Sth Melbourne in their own F@*#ing state!!!

“Bloods Culture”

Academy Picks have kept that club propped up for the last 12 years.

A good mate of mine, a mad dees fan (he has been to every final we have played in since we first met way back in 1990, including the 2018 prelim with me), has been living up in Sydney for 25 plus years.

Loves the city, but can't stand Swan's fans for some reason - well, for much the same reasons your mate can't stand them from what i gather, particularly their lack of understanding of the rules.

Theatre goers he calls them.

However, like most things he does, he goes next level.

He has been a Swans member for years - and because he loves watching footy, goes to lots of Swan's home games (though only at the SCG - he hates their other ground)

And barracks vociferously for the whatever team the Swans is playing that day.

We will lift bigtime in finals. this entire season in my opinion hinges on if another team can go with us.

the Swans are a very good team, but when we played them we were in a form slump, no Steven May, Harry petty playing through multiple injuries and they just fell over the line in a game that could have gone either way.

I reckon we will come out of the blocks really strongly and it could be over quite early if the Swans aren't ready for it.

A little update on some recent posts:

“Nervous as s**t, I hope we don’t go to water, I don’t think we will”

“A win will be extraordinary for this group bigger than beating Port in 2003.

“super confident could be us by 10 goals”

“IMO this will be the closest game of the four as we are the only two teams who can win the flag I reckon.”

“The longer the week gets the more confident I get.”

re - “I’m the complete opposite. I'm settled down for 30point loss.”

“Hope the boys go into this with no fear. We've worked for the double chance and I'll back us in to do it the hard way if we lose. Pressure is on Melbourne here. Just have to go in with manic pressure and hope they break at some point.”

“David King tips us...... We are screwed”

“The more I think about it, the more I reckon we'll win this by 40+. Gawn, Oliver, Petracca are no where near their form last year and can't drag their side over the line this year.” - lol what?

"Some big statements being made here around the outcome of this game. 40 and 50 point margins in a QF against the reigning premier on their home ground who once again finished top 2. Ridiculous."

“More I think about it, the more I think no matter what happens we are likely to concede in the midfield. Luckily, we are very good at absorbing inside 50's and generate majority of our scores off turnover/ from defence. If we can break 40/60 in the midfield it will go a long way to winning the game.”

"I tipped us but by less than 2 goals. Anyone thinking a 30+ win might be very surprised by how good the Demons are. They could belt us tbh."

Also closer. At least you could do Buller in a day and be back for dinner.

But Thredbo for a few days was awesome.

Busted up ankle......really miss the sport.

Our backline has been riddled with injuries and covid protocols all year.

It's finally come together.

Viney seems to have slipped past their attention.

Important point - one of several that could be mentioned. A few Viney-esque tackles and the Swans may well start gulping.

I pity the fools.

I think they have every right to be confident. They are no more delusional than some on Demonland who have suggested the game will be over by half time and we win by 10 goals.
2022 is not 2021.

2022 is not 2021.

I re-watched the rd 12 game. They were gifted 2 goals from frees in the last 3m and won by 11pts.

They played out of their skins, We were terrible. Langdon was 1st game back with a busted rib, Salem 1st game back, no Steven May, Petty went off in 1st qtr with a leg problem - on and off all game, Fritsch was playing his 'selfish' football and cost us goals. We bombed the ball into our fwd line and McCartin x 2 creamed us. Logan McDonald had a day out and Papley was one on one with Hunt a number of times in the last line.

It won't happen like that again.

We are favourites for a reason.

Re-watched our match with them and actually feel more confident now.  The things that stood out for me:

* we played better than I remembered and really should have won.

* obviously umpiring decisions can go either way but fairly sure their first two goals (to Reid) and their last two came from questionable free kicks.

* We missed some absolute sitters - Jackson, Gawn and Fritsch near the end that they would normally kick.

* May was out (so was Buddy) and Petty was on and off the ground with a bunch of knocks.  Our backline competed better than I remembered but definitely got caught out a few times which potentially could be attributed to some players getting caught out of position.

* Rowbottom tagged Clarry from the start with a hard tag at every stoppage.  He clearly impacted Clarry's influence (I think they will do this again) but as the game went on Clarry seemed to outwork him.
*Kozzie and Spargo were critical - just get the ball in their hands and we usually score.

2022 is not 2021.

That is approximately how i think the game will go - i've predicted a 47 point win.

No, its not last year. We are better this year.

Delusional? Nup.

Or if it is, there are a lot of punters who share the delusion, given bookies are only offering for $4.25 for a 40 point plus win.

That price is about right i reckon, given we are a far better team and close finals, particularly in the first week of finals, are quite uncommon - in part because once a game is decided (ie one team has an unassailable lead), the losing team often folds in  elimination finals as the realization hits they are finished for the year, or in the case of Qualifying finals they conserve energy for their semi.

By way of example, the margins in the finals last year were:

QF 2 - Dees hammered the lions by 33

QF 1 - Port hammered cats by 43 points

EF1 - the dogs smashed the bombers by 49 points (after scores were all  but level at half time)

EF2 - the one close game, with the giants beating the swans by a point

Semi 1  - Cats beat giants by 38

Semi 2 - dogs beat the lions in a thriller by a point

PF 1 - Dees [censored] the cats by 73 points

PF 2 -  dogs smash port by 71 points

GF - Dees smash dogs by  74 points

So, nine finals with only two close games and seven hidings.
