ROAD TO THE GRAND FINAL

You're right. I have no idea what I was thinking. Collingwood losing would have put Brisbane 5th.

It would've been an insane two groupings after hopefully a QF v Sydney win  -  You would've had the media anointed premiership contenders all in one group, then all of the clubs that were fancied early on in the season, that the media have all jumped off.

Anyway, not to be: silver lining is a better all round finals series and probably a tougher draw to prime any team good enough to make a GF.

Not me. My hatred of Geelong has surpassed my hatred of the pies.

I want the Cats out as soon as possible to wipe the smugness off their faces.

Ticketek site currently says ticket on sale at these dates/times:

MCC members: Tue 23 Aug 2022 9:00AM (AEST)

AFL members: Wed 31 Aug 2022 9:00AM (AEST)

Club members & general public: Wed 31 Aug 2022 9:00AM  (AEST)

It seems a bit odd but don't shoot the messenger.

It now says Tuesday 10.00 am

Just had a look on Ticketek.
It said club members can purchase up to 10 tickets. (I thought is this right?….) I then looked at the Cats v Pies game and club members can only purchase 1 ticket. Obviously both Victorian clubs with large supporter bases.

Yeah, that is what it says...10 tickets per member.  So I guess they aren't expecting a lot of Sydney fans.  Nonetheless it seems a lot of tickets...

So this finals structure is like a Dan Brown novel according to the ‘efforts’ in their thread.

Lock it down, people! You’re embarrassing yourselves…

You just referenced a Dan Brown novel so there’s plenty of embarrassment to go around

I’m sure your kids would prefer to be at the G watching a final? Start early convincing them 🙂

What’s this ‘convincing them’ business? Next thing they will be choosing what they want to eat!

Bit of ‘tough love’ needed here.  They will thank you later on in life.

Same the next best thing after a Melbourne premiership  would be  the cats out in straight sets

If you sign in at https://am.ticketmaster.com/melbournefc/ it gives you your barcode already that says it can be used for finals.

Thanks.  My barcodes were there🙂

If for some reason members can't access their ticketmaster account check emails this afternoon for barcodes.

Was so keen for this game until I read the sydney Bigfooty board to suss and they’re saying there’s no chance they lose this and we should be scared of them :(

Not going now

Who are they to feel this confident. They haven't played this Melbourne side in finals lol

Don't believe them!

We are a better team now:  Hibberd will not let Reid get away like Tomlinson did, we have May back (but they have Buddy back), we have a different fwd line without M. Brown.  Our ball movement is different.

And Sydney have won seven consecutive games.  Can they continue?  I have my doubts!

Anyway, win lose or draw all dee fans should go.

They only beat us by 2 goals FFS and we were in the middle of a form slump (aka loading).

They can have all the confidence in the world, but I saw us and them play this weekend and I know who kills who at peak form (and we played a far more formidable opponent at a ground they rarely lose at!).

The same Sam Reid that is 196cm tall?

Job for Petty or Lever. May to take Buddy.

Hibbo will take Papley.

May to Buddy, Petty to Reid (what an upgrade on Tomlinson), Lever on McDonald.

I would get Harmes to play on Heeney. For me, he is their key playmaker. If we can shut him down I think we win.

True.

I was hoping to give  @Demongirl35 reasons to go to the game ie we are a much stronger team now than in round 12.

I'll add a few more reasons on match ups:  neither May or Buddy played last time but naturally May will take him.

Now that you mention Petty, he was injured early in the rnd 12 game but played on so our defence was further weakened.  There is a lot of synergy in our back 6 so with a fit Petty and May in we are much stronger.

Ditto at the other end of the ground without M. Brown.

There is a fair chance Hunt will go to Papley as he has done a great job on small fwds this year and has the speed to keep up with him.

And they had Paddy Mc playing on Kozzie who drifted off and marked everything in sight as did all their defenders.  I doubt that will be allowed again with Max down there now.  Reckon Melksham would be good match up for Paddy.

Is anyone aware of how many tickets I can purchase with my barcodes, for context I'm a Trident member with 2x barcodes.

Any help on this would be amazing.

The Ticketek website says 10 per member which seems odd really high, especially as ticket sales to the general public don't open until 3.00pm tomorrow.  It doesn't seem right that a member can buy 9 additional tickets for non-members.  Confusing...

The club is sending emails to members this afternoon so hopefully, it is all clear then.

I wonder if Hibberd takes Heeney when he's forward and Hunt is given Papley?

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
