Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We need a “What are they saying at Moore Park” thread. Content from Big Footy as posted is already gold comedy.

I had it partly ready.  Was waiting for their 'official preview'

Since requests have been made see

Shows how much they know!

There's 92 cm at Buller, which equates to 36 inches, not 42.

But 92 is still enough for a post GF celbratory Dees visit in late September.

Using tired old cliches just shows a lack of real sledging material by Swanees. And talking in imperial measures which went out in 1977 is weird also.

Funny but.

A lengthy but very good article about how historically the teams that have won the premiership from respective ladder positions at the end of the H&A season.

review-analysis-minor-premier-not-winning-flag-favourite-grand-final-tips-predictions

If you get to the end of the article you will like this:  "All of this bodes quite well for 2nd-placed Melbourne, doesn’t it?"

Being too scared of jinxing the team to say it out loud, I'll write b-2-b in lower case and very small small print...

Looks like history is on our side.

LOL!  They changed the article title after I copied it!  My link and yours go to the same article.  I guess the 'luck of a black cat' is more click bait worthy!

As minor premiers we had no problem finishing winning the flag last year but we were the exception to recent history.

Agree that 1st place probably doesn't earn rewards comensurate with being the best team over 22 H&A matches.

However;

Perhaps this balancesout the inequities of an unfair/imbalanced fixture?

I'd argue we also could have finished first with a fixture of the same difficulty as Geelong's.

Indeed.

And, there were some unique factors that might reinforce our win being an exception to the rule:

- We never played a home final as such.

-three of the preliminary finalist were vic based teams all having to play interstate

- covid, lockdowns etc; and the resulting impact on planning

But perhaps the three most significant factors were:

- in finishing top, we avoided a six day break and playing port on their home deck. Poor puddy cats had to play their home qualifying final at Adelaide oval against a home team!. Whereas, whilst our game was also at Adelaide oval, it was at least a neutral venue given we played the lions

- we had the opportunity to get to Perth and set up a base, and also nab tbe best facility. We also had one more week than the dogs out of iso.

- the bye before the grand final, which wasn't scheduled until after the finals commenced iirc, is a variable that is unique to 2021. Who knows what impact thst had

Yeah, we cost them a QF against the Lions in Adel. Doubt they would have played it in Mordor in front of zero orcs or people from Geelong.

Can someone please explain to me how hamstring injuries work?

How does Jeremy Cameron only miss two weeks despite a confirmed strain and be available for the Pies final?

I thought players typically miss 21 days with a strain, no matter how light? You never really hear of a player missing 2 weeks with a hammy strain.

Oh well, it’s their risk to take. Could backfire and see him miss the rest of the finals.

I think the lack of the pre-finals bye was a key one. Straight into it after the high of Round 23. Less disruption after winning the QF.

It’s interesting..Ginivan with 7 positions in a half against Sydney  is subbed out with hamstring strain & is replaced by C. Brown who has 14 in a half …but Ginivan fronts up against Carlton the following week & is instrumental in the win against them. Funny things  these hamstring strains !!

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
