No it is not ok to bag either of them.  It is not ok to bag anyone doing their job.

What do you mean by this? That any criticism of anyone should be avoided?

Cant watch it now that pies beat us and Caro (daughter of Ian) was right about  her beloved tigers. Wilson and Eddie are unbearable. Never stop interupting and hogging the show.

Give me Drew Morphett and Tim Lane on the ABC any day over the current corporate actors.

Only ever watched the ABC for those two and 4 Corners program.

I've already said I didn't see LDcV's post referring to Caro and Eddie.

No agenda.  I just find these type of threads tedious.  They and the number of repetitive threads on DL is causing me to post less and less these days.  So maybe I do have an agenda:  enjoy DL a bit more than I have lately.

And before you tell me to not open a thread if I don't like what is posted, believe me I don't.  After the first 10-20 posts of a new thread the writing is often on the wall and I don't open them again.  To qualify that: if anyone quotes me I will come to a thread to give them the courtesy of reading their comments and if required respond.  This thread is now in that category.

What is wrong with a thread on a footy site, that talks about a footy show compere who constantly mentions his club and himself?

Seriously?

Eddie is a relic. In the same category as Sammy Newman. Time to retire to the golf course

Preferably to a galaxy ... far, far away.

I don't watch many footy shows but when I do I see them bang on about stuff we've been talking about here for months and sometimes years.

Bagging and criticising = two different things.

Faulty, Luci is the lovely person who rounds up the spilled conscious of opposition fans for our benefit every week.

Not wanting to read more odious takes on the faces we see on the TV is not an agenda.

@Lucifers Herois also the lovely person who gives us detailed reports on player contracts as well as ticketing advice, amongst many other valuable contributions. Anyone wanna talk about someone with an agenda? There’s no shortage on DL, but LH is certainly not one of them.

Criticism can be constructive. It can serve a worthwhile purpose.
Bagging is never constructive and it doesn’t serve a worthwhile purpose.

Hmmm interesting. So does that mean you can't say "politician x is hopeless" or "the umpire has no idea" or even "I hate Essendon"?

Or on Wednesdays, should it be called Footy Collingwood or Footy Eddie?

It is now just about unwatchable. All Eddie does, is to involve Collingwood in every segment and every part of the show and even himself, by declaring his production company is doing this that or the other. Additionally whatever is said by another panellist, Eddie adds “yes that is my info or what I have been told “. The big noting.

It is actually sickening.

Whatever they talk about, Collingwood is mentioned by him. There are always clips of Collingwood. No matter what the topic, there is mention of Collingwood.

Enough is enough.

It was one of my favourite footy shows, but on Wednesday is now unwatchable.

Please get Eddie off the panel and bring in anyone else, so that it can get back to being a footy show, not a Collingwood/Eddie one.

The same is happening with SEN, albeit it's been a staged takeover for a number of years now since they started bringing Bucks on in a weekly segment when he was coaching.

Now there's Bucks and Mcrae doing the rounds.

The amount of coverage of the Pies is sickening in the media including their unoffical daily the HUN.  Can only hope they go out in straight sets.

Bring back the Footy Show with Sam Newman! Hahahahahaha! 🤣😅😂

It's easily the worst Footy show doing the rounds.  Rarely watch more than a few minutes and that's mostly an accident.  The remote gets a quick workover as soon as i see/hear Caro or Ed

Wednesday Footy Classified:

Eddie

Collingwood

Eddie

Ross Lyon with a timid interjection

Eddie with former president's cap on

Segment on North Melb coaching job where Eddie crowbars in a Tasmania agenda

Ross the Boss (which is becoming less informative by the week)

Some mention about something only Collingwood members would know like how Frankie Fredericks was a champion for them in the 1929 grand final.

Caro mentioning that the Melb tanking saga was worse than pumping young kids full of drugs

Closing cook

I beg to differ.

In my world of 6 + decades they have always been the same thing.

Ps. At a game, have you ever expressed disapproval of an umpire’s decision ?

I hear ya Luci, I've certainly posted a lot less this week after some people showed their true colours. Was just a stern reminder that this is a message board after all and nothing more.

Of course I have. That’s criticism. But I don’t yell out “you’re an [censored]” eg. That’s bagging.

Have never watched it and never will.

Tbh I can't watch any AFL media anymore. It is a complete joke and it is all sensationalist BS.

At the start of the season we were 'unbeatable', now Geelong are unbeatable and we are worthy of being a bottom 4 side.

I like first crack and on the couch.  Don't watch anything else.

I’ve “bagged” plenty over the years without using any expletives or even at times, raising my voice.

Bagging, slagging AKA criticising.

Each to their own.

I stopped watching the  footy shows because they have  become irrelevant. Since our 10 game streak has stopped …we have had very little respect considering we haven’t been out of top 4 all year and are the reigning premiers. Now even when we win.. I have zero interest in watching these show …just by reading DL you can pick up what is said if interested:’ It’s all about ego’s “- & click bait “ media.!

Feeling a bit similar, in fact I can't watch anything during the week now. Its too tiring.

Anyone else see Donald McDonald on the Front Bar? He coached the last 5 games of 2004 for Hawthorn and blatantly admitted to tanking. Joked around saying - there was a bit of tanking going on in those days

assume Caro n Co will run with this in tomorrow’s paper??

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
