I have two topics in mind:

A) Is it worthy give JVR a go this late in the season? At the very least can be an unpredictable player for opposition defenders.

B) Where have our members gone? I sit in the redlegs reserved area, which is supposed to be sold out. Have only missed a couple of home games and not once the bay I sit has been at more than 50 or 60% capacity (the best I have seen were round 1 and last Friday). I feel us as supporters need to do better 🤷🏻‍♂️

Looking forward to the podcast, need some catharsis after last Friday night.

Might need a counselling session Andy after Friday night, im still shattered we lost to the filth again.

Be great to hear your opinion on whether our game style has been surpassed in 22? long to the pack in the pocket suddenly feels very outdated.

That is annoying to hear, as I tried to get a Family Redlegs membership, but was told they had all sold out, so am down on L1. Which, by the way, pi553d Pies supporters still managed to infiltrate and spill beer over everyone.

If/when we face Collingwood again in September what do we need to do differently to get the win. 0/2 so far, 3rd time lucky?

I’ve got a couple of questions::

1) Why can’t we handle opposition pressure as well as last year? This was evident in the Pies game which led to massive over hand balling.

2) How are we going to stop fast ball moving sides? The Pies played on 15% more than their average to ensure we couldn’t set our defence which really rattled us. Is this a midfield issue for us?

Who is going to tell Max how to kick a set shot from 20-30m out? He seemed to sort this out and now has reverted to too long a run up, swinging the ball around and hooking out to the right. Is it even worth playing him deep forward at the moment with the yips he has in front of goal? Would we be better off with Jackson deep forward and Max primary ruck?

Regarding the attacking fast ball movement teams that have exposed us, and minimised our defensive weapons. Do you think teams like the pies, swans and cats will be able to execute this in the more contested finals? Or will it just be as simple as whether or not our pressure/tackling etc gets to a high enough level?

This.

This.

The Pies were in constant movement even when switching across ground they'd take the mark and keep moving so our zone defence never got a chance to set. We need to push up on them and when they switch/rebound out of defence make them go back over the mark and take their kick.

Play a higher zone off the kick out and lay more forward 50 tackles. 😉

Nail our set shots 🤣

Hey guys, love the podcast and the website. I don't post much but I read almost everything on Demonland and I listen to the podcast each week.

Just wanted to get your thoughts on the comments Ed Langdon made on radio the day before the match. As you well know he labelled the Pies a one trick pony and "all Duck, No Dinner".

Comments like this were always going to be used as motivation against him and us. What do you think about those comments?

Not sure how many we laid, but at least 4 should have been rewarded. But you know, umpires.

For me they were not that big of a deal and the Pies took it as an insult.

On top of that their thuggery at the start and during the match is unwarranted. They have anger management issues and umpires shouldn't condone unnecessary violence.

We had a chance to go over 4 goals up when Bayley had that close range snap that he missed and a 2 goal turnaround followed cutting the margin to 17 at HT. We had a 3 goal lead late in the 3rd quarter with yet another chance to consolidate (can't remember who missed) but the Pies ended up snatching two late goals to pull it back to single figures at the last change giving themselves a real chance. The game really felt like one where we would threaten to break it open but Collingwood would somehow minimise the damage with a 50-50 chance turned into a goal and this kept them in touch.

It's happened a lot this season, there's been multiple games where a series of things needed to happen for us to lose the game from the seemingly winnable position we've had. Do we need to take a good look at why this is the case? Possibly on the mental side? If this was any other team I feel like the media would be branding us 'chokers' every week.

Whether they should have been awarded or not in another game is questionable but in the context of the frees award to the pies directly in front of their goals they most definitely should have been awarded.

Many clubs are using their subs, whether above board or not, to their advantage bringing on fresh legs late in the game.

The Pies subbed out the underperforming Hoskin-Elliot.

We seem to be on of those good guys clubs that haven't used this loophole. Do you think the Demons should have "found an injury" and perhaps substituted James Harmes into the game to give us some fresh legs?

Don't forget there was also the no calls on some of our tackling in our back 50.

There was one goal that came directly from Ginivan dropping the ball while being tackled that was then picked by a Pies player and kicked a goal.

Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.
