To be fair, I think Howe's IQ matches his playing number. Like most, if not all of them. Look at De Goey, for example.

Should have been a free kick for unduly rough play, tackle had been completed when about 3 others decided to pile on.

To me this is really a non-issue, let the players pipe up and make statements that get us invested into the game. At the end of the day, the on field performance has the last say. Players are human, not media robots.. “we were up against a quality opposition”, “we really respect them”, “they really challenged us in the 1st quarter”… how about, “we’d love to [censored] these a$$holes, they beat us twice this year now”, “we’ve got JH’s number in our sights” and, “if Cox even thinks of looking at Gawny the wrong way with those ridiculous shades, then look out!”

Gerard Whately described it as good entertainment. A bloke being attacked, head driven into the ground, elbows and fists on his face, while on the ground defenceless, against 5 players. Yep great entertainment. Stuff the rules.

I think we need some nastiness back in our play.

Maynard smashed Langdon and ANB and also belted Max in the back of the head, in a spoil in our forward pocket. No free to Max of course.

We need to get nasty and ruthless with our tackles and tackle to hurt.

Teams need to know that we mean business.

I think we have become nice guys, helping the opposition up off the ground and joking with them during the game.

Harden up guys and hit hard and often.

That won't happen Mr Leg and you know it. That's not the way the MFC have ever played. I can't see it changing.

Thought the Max one was blatant but of course play on.

Blow up picture of Langers being assaulted by four cowards, under the pretext of being entertainment.God we must have put some "defective journalists" back in their mirrors after last season.

Big Carl, Biffin, O'Dwyer, Coles, Hughes & Grinter say hello

And I saw Teddy Fidge rough up Millane once ... might have been at Waverley in the mid 80's

Neitz used to throw his weight around when needed.  Even Tiger Crosswell & Zantuck

We've had a few, old dee

Arguably "got what he deserved" will provide more potent ammunition than the original duck, dinner, etc.

can’t wait to meet this [censored] in the finals…. Not the 1st time he has had a dig at the club who gave him his chance.

Does Jeremy see how stupid HE looks now.  Thanks to the above, guess what goes on the Dees whiteboard in the finals.

Nice one Jeremy. 32 years old and still no Premeirship medal, and unlikely to have one with father time closing n.

What a waste of a career - as Travis Boak said to TMAC in the Power game last year - another 'speaking too soon ' type..

Our Ed got one at 25 and a half.

If the shoe was on the other foot, you know we would demand nothing less than what the Pies dished up. well I know I would.

He was an [censored] for saying it - and bought undue attention to himself that left him rattled and ineffective and irrelevant for large parts of the game.

Noel McMahon, Barassi, Jim Durnan, Cameron Clayton, Byron Pickett, Crackers, Mark Jackson, Stewart Gull, Phil Carman  to add a few more.

I also don't think that Dunne would have thought  that was "ok"

Werridee could put a team together at the rate that these names are being recalled, Redleg

Michael Reynolds could go a bit from memory

The present day ... Melksham, May, Viney, Hibberd (and Fritsch likes a scrap apparently) ... we could bring back Majak (I wouldn't get him riled up)

Maybe we let VDB go too early?

If you want to talk about Ed's words not being chosen carefully, I don't think Howe's were chosen much better. Really hope this gets us going for next time we play them for a change.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
