I’m of the same view unless he gets up for the VFL scratch game that Goodwin mentioned was going to occur the weekend before finals start and plays well. If not I think it’s too risky to bring him in for a PF or GF.

Tmac also appears very much lighter. Whether it is muscle mass, or just an illusion I couldn't tell.

If he has dropped some weight, it could make it easier and perhaps quicker to rehab.

He is a focused individual and I wouldn't put it past him to have a chance at being ready.

Very true. He’s made many of us eat our words before so could very well do it again.

The yellow boundary line was the previous perimeter, fence to fence.

Roughly;

3.5m extension in length

10.8m overall wider (8m to western edge and 2.8m eastern)

the yellow line (previous) shows a longer length. did you draw this in yourself or copy/paste from elsewhere?

Think goody mentioned something post game about a light week on the track. Lookout Pies!

No he didn't. Go back and check it out.

He was referring to the toll of 2 x 6 day breaks plus travel, and that the players would need a "bit of a rest and then reset".

I guess I interpreted “a bit of a rest” as a light week, but maybe goody was meaning the usual post game rest.

I wonder how they will deal with the VFL bye for those who are possible AFL selections in coming weeks...

Smith, Dunstan, Bedford Tomlinson, Chandler, Bowey, JVR and maybe Weid

My dimensions were fence to fence, not boundary to boundary.

Line to line dimensions;

Previously, goal line to goal line approx 155m - now 159m

Previously, outer wing to outer wing  approx 109m - now 123m

Not my markings, just a program I use.

thanks,

so the yellow line is the previous fence line (not boundary)

all makes sense now

Starting to warm to this idea [Tommo as a forward] each week. We really just need a contest, if he provides it then it's worth considering.

Worthy of consideration but unlikely that Goody would upset his system at this time of year.  But it would also give a back up option should one of our key back men go down …. and they each have at some stage this year.

And the big question….does the oval seem bigger?!

Certainly compared to KITTYLITTER Park.

Tommo at full fwd would be light years ahead of he who we aren' t allowed to name but had a poor game on Friday night.

I watched the one that Williams took. He wanted them to look around then perform a sharp 10 meter pass. He didn't stop talking.

Glad to hear Choco training the house down (again)!  💪🏼❤️💙

Any photos?

if bbb doesn't come up for this week. i'd be tempted to try tomlinson at full fwd. he's a handy mark and a good kick. his vfl form has been good too.

Reportable offence!

Don't want this to get lost in the airwaves. He really is one of the more laser-like focused footballers I've seen. The shot after the siren in the GF, the mark on the line from Harmes' shot against Hawthorn.. These are small examples but his ability to block out background noise and focus on the task at hand is exemplary, it has shown me that when Tom sets his mind on something he really goes full bore at it.

This has to be a great thing when it comes to this recovery. He'll give himself every chance possible.

JVR is ready for a launch....albeit most likely a brief entre as he's still borderline & raw.

Form at Casey last three weeks is solid.  Also showed some decent defensive pressure acts / tackles.  Watch his read off the pack 'on the move' goal over the weekend.  You wont see Tomo or Weid doing these things.  He's a natural around goal and dead eye within 40

So it's now marginally wider than GMHBA. We should be able to train to win there then. 😄

Anyone have a link to where the training times and locations are?

Used to be clear on the website, but I can’t seem to find them anywhere…

They have suspended open trainings due to covid, and haven't reinstated them yet.

I use the old intuition and guess work.

On Monday, it all happened very quickly, cart drove out and the players and entourage (coaching staff and some guests) followed.

When I walked around Aami park I could see some footballers getting out of their cars, so at least I knew they were here, and not Casey or Port.

I am of the suspicion that a captains run will be 'on' at about 10 AM Thursday,  on Gosch's. Could be wrong.

The arena is fenced off by the ground staff,  as the area is still under repair.

There is plenty of room between spectators and players, maintaining covid distancing with the fence.

They also allowed some observers and film crew into the fenced area. You could try your luck!

My guess of the training routine is; Monday morning, and a captains run the day before the game, at Gosch's, with a full training either, Tuesday or Wednesday at Casey.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
