WAFL season starts in 2 weeks, think JVRs younger brother Sam, will start getting spoken about a little. Put together good pre season, good size, endurance and like JVR in his attack on the contest in the air and at ground level

Cheers Pennant, is he psychically as big as Jacob?

Not at JVR’s current size in terms of build, but height and size is the same as JVR at the same age

Would be great to have another brother combo at the club!

The Herald Sun’s online page has a feature today highlighting the 2023 draft prospects.

There are two players covered in the article of special interest to Demon fans so I thought we should kick things off early.

The first is a father/son prospect who is the son of our Nathan Brown who played 146 games for the club between 1998 and 2007. A dogged small utility, Brown’s achievements included -

  • Fourth Best and Fairest 2002
  • Most Consistent Player 2002
  • Second Best and Fairest 2004
  • Most Consistent Player 2004
  • Best Clubman 2005

Here’s the item about his son Kynan

In addition to a plethora of 'father-and-sons' recruiting to come for the Mighty Dees, this one is a 'must get' and perhaps, the most talented of all. Should he join the Dees, consider the learning curve that he will enjoy to emulate the skills and career of his Dad, and the related values to the team. He has so many attributes that his development is already in train so let's accelerate that potential.

Can't imagine why he wouldn't nominate the Dees.

Have been training with us, his Dad is still involve at the club (presented McVee's jumper on the weekend), and we are doing very well as a club on and off the field.

Would be crazy to go elsewhere.

Norff or Hawks will grab him. Atleast GWS wont.

No untried player is worth 3 top draft picks. Absurd.

GWS ?  Hold my beer!

The Hawks already have one hand on the #1 draft pick after last week’s disaster. Probably will continue that way throughout the season.

Agree we'd be crazy to pass up on Kynan Brown.  From what i've seen he is as tough as nails and has a lot of upside. A couple of his teammates would be nice to get as well.

ESPN’s early u/18 power rankings (no Knightmare?). Glaring omissions for mine are Murray’s Darcy Wilson and GWV’s George Stevens, otherwise a good wrap.

There is some talent in this crop and Reid isn’t the only player clubs will trade up for. Have to imagine the Suns 1st pick is on the table with a couple of high end Academy talents coming through.

Definitely have Darcy Wilson in top 20 - probably around 15 on this list. His pace and evasive skills as a mid would be a nice addition to the red and blue.

Was at the Claremont colts game, Curtin playing sore and kept the best defender busy, SVR missed a couple of set shots but presented all day and second efforts at ground level were good. Jett Sibosado (Freo Next Gen) plenty of tackles, pressure acts and smart ball use as medium forward, Bailey Banfield very Viney like around the stoppages, Austin Van Der Stuyf (one for 2024) really clean and smart with his disposal, Claremont just far to strong around the stoppages and those 3 tall forwards really hard match up for a lot of sides. Hiscock good tall defender for West Perth. Perth colts also good display against Subiaco Aidan O’Driscoll clean and damaging as usual, small forward Bobby Warrell caused headaches for Subiaco’s backline, Coen Livingston also important.  Oscar Dees and Luka Kentfield Subiaco’s best

Didn't think I'd be keeping too close an eye on this year's crop, but thank you Fremantle. 😉

Curtin played forward?

Generally thought he was a defender?

Played forward, is a really good defender but also a good forward, he has so much versatility. Will miss this week as there’s an AIS camp I believe.

Next round has 4 WAFL colts games back to back all at Joondalup, so no doubt plenty of recruiters will be there

Wonder what happened at ESPN to Knightmare? He used to command pride of place there and was previous to that prolific on the bigfooty board.

Probably made money writing for ESPN but no longer.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
