I’ve noticed MFC fans booing oppo players when lining up for goal recently. I personally hate it. Leave it to likes of Collingwood and west coast. Unless it is a bad free kick paid what are you actually booing?

it’s ridiculous, childish and petty.

a bloke marked the ball and is kicking for goal. Boo our defence if you like but the oppo did their job

There is no association between on field decisions and booing is there?

Why isn't there an Umpires post game question and answer forum to clear the air , to humanise their decision making and themselves.I think it would prove to be very popular.

Again, it’s Essendon. E-S-S-E-N-D-O-N. All manner of etiquette flies out the window when it’s them. 😁

And besides, when the opposition are lining up for a set shot at the other end of the ground, our main cheer guys boo them like there’s no tomoz. And if it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for this lil nuftie. 😉

no it's not, it's the peptides

If they’ve got the opportunity through unfair means (ie they pushed our player in the back, or mark paid but didn’t have enough of it) I’ll happily boo but beyond that I’ll leave it to others if they want to put him of.

Exactly, unless it's a balls up of a free kick it's just a waste of energy and silly. Two things I can't stand: That and loudly cheering an opposition miss, unless it was from a terrible free kick and therefore a 'justice' moment.

There is some sort of serious vendetta going on here...

Think Caro is now busy with the Bartlett legal action.

I think “hatred” is an overly emotive description here.

But let me tell you what I think of Carlton,   ( the club and fans ) not the players!

You wouldn't refer to someone as "filth" if there was no hatred there

Doesn’t have to be hate, could just be a strong dislike.

I do have a bottle of Robbie Flower Port, that is probably undrinkable now, after so many years adorning the bar.

I have the same , it nearly got opened one Good Friday when I ran dry, fortunately a neighbour came to the rescue and I stayed hydrated

I reckon mine would be putrid by now, so I just keep the bottle displayed on the bar, as another reminder of a great bloke, a friend and the most skilful player I have ever seen.

No It’s not. It is entirely appropriate

Yep I agree, everyone hates us,  constructive criticism, winning and our time enduring objective analysis.

Rose tinted unfortunately mate, when we beat Essendon last year half our cheersquad booed their players off, it was disgusting

With what I remember…the only games that stand out to me with oppo supporters booing us is Essendon…they are by far the biggest whinger’s. Collingwood are just quite frankly in a category of their own

I hope someone points out to Ms Wilson that last night’s crowd for Melbourne vs Brisbane exceeded the recent Thursday night crowd of Richmond vs Port Adelaide by 16,000.

She wouldn’t acknowledge it, just like Dees hater Dwayne “the Exaggerater” Russell.

Caro should be left alone so she can continue sucking lemons!

She will never apologise or admit she is wrong about anything!

Total waste of time and space!

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
