And poor Petty has to play yet another week while being held together by sticky tape.
Selfish behavior that is costing the team and his teammates.

Sure and when he did it last time I gave him the benefit, like I had when he showed up unfit and spent most of that year injured and unfit.

He has been in an AFL system for 11 years, he knows he shouldn’t be drinking, sure others might have told him too but he is a bloody adult, he knows better.

Dr. Phil (yes, I’m quoting Dr. Phil) says it takes a thousand “atta boys” to negate a single “you’re no good.” Seems Maysie is being Dr. Phil’d right here.

Certainly not ideal preparation for QB.

🤔 never noticed that happen before. Except for every single time it happens.

The funny thing here is there is a common element at play. Namely, its really hard to get people to change after a certain age.   Petracca will always be a slightly unreliable kick, May will always be keen to sneak in a cheeky pint if he can, "fans"  will also be quick to jump on their players and yes, i will be always be bemoaning it.

I get it, but heck its just depressing to read. Support really matters when you screw up in life not when you are flying i reckon.

Some players choose not to drink even when there’s a 7 day plus break.

If we played the Pies on Friday night - none of them would be out drinking over the weekend…sadly the long break caused this fiasco not to mention weak judgement.

Collingwood by 28 points.

Good.

We are pretenders if we are incapable of winning without one player. Players and or strategy need to adapt.

Right call by the club.

Im with you spaghetti.  Are we any good?

Not the end of the world.  We just gotta keep fighting (not each other socially however).  Like every other team that fancies themselves for a shot at the flag.  And there is a number of them.  But its game on now.  Last year we went ordinary mid season.  We have to taper now.  Reset, refocus.  Get our mojo back.  Have good luck.  And be cherry ripe for finals.  None of which are a given.

You and me both!

Considering how harsh ppl are when a player makes a mistake (while we’re on top of the ladder and reigning premiers) I wouldn’t have lasted five minutes on DL back in the dark times.

The plus is that it's happened earlyish in the week. Still time to dust off and get our heads right for this task. No point complaining about it now, gotta play the cards as they are dealt.

Bit defeatist. Are we now a one man team?

It's not just the player it's who we replace him with. Our backline has been in disarray without him. Tomlinson along with Hunt and Lever cost us the game against Sydney. I'm confident Hunt won't play but Tomlinson I'm not sure .Give the kid Turner a go can't be any worse than Tomlinson.

I surely can't be the only one curious about who was winning the fight?

May is a beast, but Melksham is a more than handy boxer.

Oh FFS...

This is incredibly dumb by Steven May. If he knew about the protocols of not drinking while under the concussion rule then its stupid by him.

Watch Mason Cox kick 5 now.

That would seriously ensure he wins this years KKA

This bye week we need the whole club to return to our lockdown hub and have a long chat about whether they're serious about their intentions this year or whether they're content for 2021 to be a flash in the pan

They’re on top of the ladder, what more do you want!!!

Amazes me what different worlds we supporters live in, really just the love of the Dee's that connects us. Or maybe it's having four brothers, but for me a bunch of headstrong blokes, who live an extreme lifestyle under huge pressure, having a small moment is not the end of the world, no police involved, no innocents hurts. May cops a punishment and it is fair and reasonable, be upset that he misses a week, we dearly need him, but his 'form' is negligible against say a Hodge. If this was the Army or Police drinks after a nightshift, we'd be none the wiser, and we'd say what a fine bunch of men they are, marching along doing their stuff. Don't let the hot-house of the media make you think the sky is falling, don't zero sum everything. I mean Tmac and Viney punched on at training. I love Steven May and until i see him do something cowardly I have his back as a supporter. Shout out to WCW for maintaining the rage!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
