Also tempting to bring the riv back, take sparrow out and slot Gus at HF. We are desperate for classy kicking forward of centre.

McDonald is done for the year

If TMac is really done for the season then bring in Weid and play him for at least the next 6 games.  He's been better than BBB, and offered more than M.Brown, but time to see if he will really make it and not change him in and out all the time.

Petty is injured, so is TMac.

Ins: May, Rivers, Weid

Outs: Petty ( rest), BB, Hunt

We May have to look at blooding a couple of the kids.

Lucky to get another game: Spargo, ANB, Bowey, Sparrow.

I like all 3. We have to play Dogga or Max in f50 all game. Daw can chop out #1 ruck until Bbb finds some form.

M Brown miles better than Weid

Tommo a better option than Petty in sticky tape

Nah.

I said last week that Sparrow had a poor game and wouldn't get dropped but tonight he was as bad as I've see him play.

I'd drop him personally.

Dropping Ben Brown is the easy option but there is no way bringing in Sam Weideman improves us at all. If anything it makes us worse because he's he's not an AFL standard player time and time again.

I have no idea what the changes will like, but I can easily reel off 5 names I would drop straight away.

People are either entrenched in their anti-Weid glasses or didn't go to the game if they honestly think Ben Brown should stay in ahead of him after tonight.

Agreed, Max is undoubtedly the better forward, but unfortunately he is also about three times better than Jackson in the centre. I'd probably play Jackson forward unless Daw is a complete liability in the ruck. We need two Gawns.

Brown has about 100 good games up on Weideman. Even when out of form Brown still takes away the best defender. He is that much better than Weideman ever has or ever will be.
Having said that, Mitch Brown is a bad bandaid and we need to bring Weideman in and let him play the year out with BB because there are no other options.

Sparrow is Weid 2.0

A good finals series but ultimately not AFL standard

Brown was shi te

But Weide was shi te last week, and somehow managed plenty of lead up possession in the Casey game... ??

Honestly,  I cgaf if it was BBB or Weid next week, but M Brown and Fritta provided the options tonight

Ben Brown has been poor nearly all year. Take off the ginger goggles.

History of good games means absolutely nothing.

Mitch Brown did nothing tonight mate, and for a bloke with 'fresh legs' he was as stationary as anyone in the forward line.

When was the last time Weideman wasn’t poor playing senior footy? 2018?
Weideman commands 0 respect from the opposition. You drop BB and suddenly Fritta has to play on a FB twice his height.

How did McDonald go from being selected to out for the season? What’s the source on his injury?

Well. I’m not panicking as much as you all. That was a 50/50 game just like the swannies game last year. A few umpiring decisions change and so does the result.

We are 10-2 and have a lot of improving to come.

In: the best defender in the comp, a Salem and Harmes with a game under their belt

Out: poor old Tomo

We will beat the Pies by our usual 2-3 goals. Hope you lot turn up to the game.

Probably when he kicked 3 against the Tigers in round 6, or maybe when he kicked 4 in round 3...

Here's a brief comparison for this year of that 'historically good' Brown vs the 'disrespected' Weid.

GOALS
Brown 1.7 Weid 1.5

MARKS
Brown 3.2 Weid 3.2

TACKLES
Brown 0.6 Weid 1.2

DISPOSALS
Brown 8.1 Weid 8.2

CONTESTED MARKS
Brown 0.8 Weid 1.3

It's bizarre how people stick to their perceptions now matter the factual evidence. Brown is badly out of form.

Is there any veracity to this claim beyond a rumour from the gameday thread alleging TMac told some random spectator at the G that he was having surgery and would be out for the year? Seems an unusually detailed set of information to relay... 🤔

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
