Jeez this is a good game of footy.

Freo is clearly the best side we've faced since that blistering Dogs 2nd quarter.
Hope May is OK, but I fear he isn't…!

I can Weid just get after it rather than sitting back every time?!!!!

Agree both Weed and Brown need to get in front. Very frustrating

Dunstan warming up. Not looking good for May

No he isn’t he is doing what every single sub does.

Not much input from Trac so far

Nup and his body language on the siren wasn't great. Maxy got around him though

Lobb keeping them in it. They must be tagging Trac. They're taking advantage of no Langdon by zoning defensively just behind the wing, in a straight line. Chopping off everything. Weid needs to [censored] position himself better. Caught flat-footed and behind opponent too often. They're killing us in the air so far.

Geez pretty harsh, neither have had much opportunity so far.

Agree and Weid gave Bedford the chance.

Going to miss TMac today.

Langdon the bigger loss. But TMac is just such a smarter footballer than Weid. I'd force Weid up the ground to counter Lobb, and get Brown to play deeper.

Pretty ordinary start and we are lucky to be in front. Loosing May will mean that we can have a look at our future FB in Petty taking the #1 Forward.

Need more pressure in the midfield.

If May goes off Max will have to sit back more.

Freo didn;t capitalise on their superiority that quarter. they won;t beat us if they continue to kick so poorly

outstaning pressure from ANB. almost stripped darcy and then blocked the kick

Great pick up and goal Bedford. Love that he's taking this chance.

Bedford will be an absolute gun small forward. He is such a find !

May okay or what?

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
