Embarrassing really. Club is in a rare window of competitiveness and cant pull anywhere near a decent crowd.

Not surprised one bit with the turn out of the crowd.

Raised this when I made mention of this when we had a pathetic 13k turn up only few weeks back and got smashed on here.

We've won a drought breaking flag, record memberships and yet we still have [censored] poor crowd numbers.

On the other hand the level of umpiring is so bad I understand why people don’t want to watch games.

That was a [censored] pathetic turnout. Was standing behind the goals and Swans supporters outnumbered and outcheered us badly. Everywhere. I'd say 60% of the crowd was Sydney tonight.

I think part of the poor attendance, even before tonight, is just the way we’re playing. We don’t put on big scores, we don’t belt lowly teams, we were just grinding out wins… and now losses.

Definitely. Someone mentioned this on the radio. We aren't very fun to watch atm. And haven't been all season. The only "fun" game was vs GWS. All other games have been pretty clinical bores.

If it wasn't for the MFC. I wouldn't follow the game.

You are telling me this generational team that just won a flag is the reason no one is turning up?

No, I am not shirking that. I was there tonight, as I was there for the great Bulldogs win, the strong Tigers win, and this wayward but tight loss.

This is on us and our excuses for not coming to watch and making our home games into away games. Where half the crowd is cheering for the opposition.

Against the Melbourne Demons.

Who are on top of the ladder.

Yep this was a rubbish crowd.

If you're not going because you think we don't play exciting football, you are the problem. Get off your [censored] and go support us. We are the reigning [censored] premiers and we're top of the ladder.

[Censored] it infuriates me to hear Melbourne supporters say "oh I just don't think we play exciting football".

Monkeypox clearly ripping through the MCC with members wing level 1 sparsely populated.

1000% this

I still go every week tho.

Crowds are down 30% from the average… it’s the same with every game nation wide. People have found alternatives to football over the last 2 years and some are still petrified of Covid. This is not isolated to the dees

But this is what I said a few weeks. The umpiring has really turned people off from the game.

AFL has turned this into a [censored] show.

I think the covid excuse has worn off now. So unless the AFL does something to change the umpiring of the game then unfortunately it's only going to get worse.

Outnumbered by an interstate mob at our own home game. [censored] pathetic. And the supporters who were there sounded like they were just sitting on their hands most of the match. Make some bloody noise, it is fair dinkum embarrassing. We kicked 6 of the first 7 goals and the cheering didn't get more than some polite clapping.

The Sydney cheer squad was louder than ours in the first quarter and we were up 5 goals to 0!! WT actual F.

The outnumbered claim is complete rubbish

- Covid

- Ticketek BS, hard to organise tickets

- transport is garbage

- Expensive

Hope this helps, I really don't know what else to say anymore to this question of low crowds every week. Talk about it being quiet I have fair dinkum lost my voice tonight and I reckon I lept out of my seat for our goals at least three times. Sorry but go and slaughter the Kayo brigade

We got there when gates opened at 3:30pm. We cheered for the entire Casey game. Short break. Then straight into the main game.

Their cheer squad rocked up just before the main matched started.

I’m not making excuses but it kinda hurts to hear that we were outdone.

Nah, it's not but it's semantics. 16k each, 17k v 15k whatever it was it was still crap

I made that comment to make a point - I don't expect a few hundred in the cheer squad to make up for the lack of noise from 10k others. Obviously there were some yelling and cheering my throat is hoarse right now. But overall the noise from the Swans after a couple of their goals dwarfed anything we gave tonight (supporters as a whole not the cheer squad).

LOL. It’s a good thing Mrs Fritta (Pauline, Fritta’s mum) doesn’t read DL posts. She’s not to be taken lightly.

This convo took place tonight…

Pauline: Who’s number 30 for THEM?

Me: Tom McCartin. Why?

Pauline: He just punched Bayles in the ribs. Ima track him down.
Me: If you find him, what are you gonna do?

Pauline: I’ll hunt him down… and kill him.😳

@dazzledavey36! Come over to our bay next week and tell Pauline we don’t make enough noise!!! 😁

The so called level 1 wing you talk about (non mcc) is constantly full. It’s the sk Warne stand that is literally empty every week

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
