Lance Franklin has been one of the greats of this era if not the best, I hope he can get to the 1000.

Long way out from finals but it looks like they’re dragging him to the 1000, finals… who knows.

Several Geelong platers have "clearly shown displeasure" when penalised but no 50s like in our practice game v Carlton.

Even handedness or softening in interpretation?

Buddy looked to have some… VERY… choice words for the umpire after that push in the back that he thought was against him… No 50.

The new interpretation is supposed to address players talking back or questioning umpires, I reckon I’ve seen a lot of that in small doses in round 1 already. Sooo, what’s the point if it isn’t enforced all the time?

Instead of allowing some players to talk back but not others depending on the umpire, creating a blurred line, the AFL might as well just make a rule that you don’t talk to the umpire during the game. At least then you aren’t leaving it up to interpretation.

WA has a very narrow definition of a 'close contact':  15 minutes if both not wearing a mask.  So most of the players probably don't have covid but are caught under that definition and have to isolate for 7 days.

It can happen over and over again to WA teams.

So the "Science" is different depending which state you live in 😕

I just want Geelong to lose. However it is only half time. The swans had a hard game last week and Geelong had a softie against Essenscum.  Second half will tell a story.

I want them all to lose.

Yep he is now a c+ player well past his prime.

Please. Kicked 51 last year and missed a few games. He is still a gun

Yes.

WA teams are exposed as 'close contacts' every time a player gets covid.

Have we ever tried Weideman at half back?

Dont think so, would not mind seeing him play there at Casey first.

OMG Cats just too focussed on Franklin - leave others Heywood Heaney free.

And looking slower by the minute.   Maybe they shouldn't be scheduled to play after bedtime.

AND again, Henry talks back after in Franklin's back - no 50.

Can’t wait for McCartin v Petracca thread again..

Brad Close has kicked three goals. He could kick 10 goals and find a cure for cancer and that’s still not what he’ll be remembered for. Not by Dees fans, anyways  😉

Really Jaded? I've seen him throw the ball twice and not get penalised. And I'm wanting them to win.

His marvellous punch when Guthrie kicked the ball out on the full in R23?

Yep kissed on the uknowhat again.

Can we check Dangerfield’s buzzer please?

Hard to hate the swans. A tough midfield, buddy up front. P Mc at the back. A great coach. No ego, no nonsense

i do get annoyed at them being gifted top picks in the draft when being too 4 but that’s my only gripe

999 goals. Unbelievable.
Reckon he gets his 1000th tonight.
It’s insane to think we will probably never see anyone kick 1000 goals again.

I loath Papley but otherwise they’re a bloody good team full of guns. Well coached. Disciplined. Hard at it. They’re fun to watch too unlike the old days of Sydney being boring.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
