We have the Blues and Doggies coming up. ย Anyone with a heart condition should avoid the game.

But first, the Cats at KP.ย  As one sided as a crowd can get!ย ย  Be ready for 'frees from crowd affirmation.'

No crowds helped us with the umpiring in rnd 23 last year.ย  And Max had the Prelim crowd eating out of the palm of his hand.ย  Hostile territory this time.ย

This differential would have taken a pounding this week.

Yes Bulldogs still #1 - 3rd year running ?? Definitely thought Blues would be the challenger.ย
They often get the โ€œrub of the greenโ€. They definitely got a great run v Saints 21-9 recentlyโ€ฆ then I think broke even on frees with Eagles at the West-Meth-stadium. ย

Now Hardwick is complaining to the AFL that Nankervis is getting a poor deal from umpires.ย  He is a behind play sniper.ย  Gets away with a lot more than for what he is penalised.

He, Scott and Beveridge are perpetual whingers.

I'm so glad our club just gets on with it or if they do complain to the AFL (which they have every reason to about how Max, Clarry and Petracca are targetted) they don't announce it all over the media.ย

I wonder if the stricter head-high interpretation will affect the Dogsโ€™ advantage? Judging by his opposition to it, Bevo may well think so.ย

And imagine how it would change if they decided to crack down on throwing.

Do you think Hardwick, Scott and Beveridge are perpetual whingers for no specific reason, or are they calculated comments to generate a response, whether that is from the umpires, the AFL or their own players? For example, in Hardwick's case, I think he's speaking to his own players trying to develop an "us versus them" mentality. With Beveridge, I think it's a way of telling his players that he has their backs. Scott, on the other hand, is, I think, addressing the AFL hierarchy. In other words, I think all three use "whinging" as a deliberate tactic.ย

Maybe, but there are other ways of doing those things without challenging umpires about free kicks to/denied their players.

Bulldogs 18 to 7 free kicks after 1/4 time.ย

Dees only had 1 free kick from Qtr time to just before 3/4 time.ย

Not the reason we lost but the Bulldogs are kissed on the [censored] in the free kicks department.ย

It all helps.

We failed to finish the but equally the umpires helped them gain momentum.

Umpiring remains blight on the game

Dogs extend their lead on the free kick ladder. Sickening to think theyโ€™ve had over 100 more free kicks than the Tigers. Seriously corrupt.

I hate the Dogs. Have zero respect for them as a club. Theyโ€™re cheats. Theyโ€™re western suburbs scum. Theyโ€™re a blight on the game. OUTSIDE 5 YA RECKON

People say that there wouldnโ€™t be a game without umpires. BS.

I say it wouldnโ€™t be any worse off without them

Well i won't go that far, after last nights performance i can't say i disagree.

It is actually not the umpires fault, it's AFL house and their interpretation of how they want the game played. But the most frustrating thing about the interpretation is, how do you have wildly different interpretation in the one game>

I.E- Demons hold the ball Dogs donโ€™t.?????

Jeez we have had the second lowest amount of frees in the comp 1 more than Tiges and we have given away the second least number of frees in the comp after Dogs.!! Are the umps scared of Bevo.!!

See the Bulldogs fly up

It's not so much the frees they receive, but all the ones that aren't paid against them for holding the ball and throwing.

Not sure whether its been said, and it is quite obvious, but we have received the least # free kicks in the comp and its only our ability to have the 2nd least freekicks against (#1 bulldogs) that puts us in the middle of the table.ย

No wonder i hate umpires.ย

ย

It's a slightly different perspective when you take the differential out of it.

Club Free kicks for Club Free kicks against
Crows 433 Tigers 436
Blues 424 Swans 422
Lions 419 Kangaroos 420
Bulldogs 409 Saints 420
Swans 409 Crows 412
Magpies 405 Lions 407
Cats 399 Hawks 404
Bombers 394 Suns 402
Hawks 392 Dockers 393
Dockers 390 Power 391
Suns 389 Cats 387
Kangaroos 391 Eagles 387
Giants 378 Magpies 382
Saints 378 Bombers 382
Eagles 376 Giants 373
Tigers 367 Blues 367
Power 364 Demons 359
Demons 361 Bulldogs 324

Dogs would legitimately be a bottom four team without the blatant favor of the umpires.ย

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competitionโ€™s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
