What would you have done differently to make Freo pony up more draft assets?

There is no doubt Freo definitely wanted him.  Of course, I cannot know the actual workings of the negotiations, but WC said they were also very interested.  If I was the MFC I would have caused the stand off to go longer and seek not only draft picks (inclusive of the Bedford trade) and sought a player as well, in an effort to try and fill any perceived gaps in our list, especially after losing Hunt's pace.

I hope we don’t move on till we reach 300 pages - then let’s burn it.  300 pages of questionable quality at best. Kind of reflective of LJ’s last half of the season.

Yes all for the 300 page finish line!

If you want to see what real class is, have a look at Jayden Hunt's Instagram.

A player we essentially didn't try too hard to keep, being gracious and thankful, versus a player we spent pick 3 on, who won a flag with us, and who ran home at the first chance he got.

I think Grundy is an upgrade on LJ in the short term and what ever we offered LJ to stay must be nearly what we are paying BG, we now have salary cap room for KP next year and onwards.

Has anyone in the media asked anyone in the Club whether they knew he met with Dockers (and Eagles) during the bye? All the language from, and (apparent) considerate treatment of Jackson by, the Club since then suggests they might not have? That would be surprising, though, in these days of 'spies everywhere'...

It's probably just the norm now that players will speak to other clubs. Too hard to police.

Yep, I reckon we would’ve been in Grundy’s ear as soon as we found out LJ was speaking to both Freo and WC

You'd have to be pretty desperate to make a post just for the sake of getting the thread to 300 pages.

edit:  It was worth a try.

Its fitting way to finish a thread which was much ado about nothing.

You’d have to even more desperate to pretend to quote other people, just to get there.

We revived the massive Jesse Hogan thread a couple of months back.

This one might have another lease of life in the future.

Even Voldemort got a brief re-opening

PS.. well well....300 pages !!!

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
