It would be a shame for the thread to reach 100 pages with a nothing post.

Now I'm really nervous. Zahhhh, bang, gee, wow! 100 up beckons. Trying my best to not be average!

I’m starting to buy into the conspiracy theory that Demonland asked Jackson to stay unsigned for as long as possible in order to drive up advertising revenue on this site.

Didn’t have a disposal in the second half last night. Million dollar players don't go an entire half without touching the ball when the whips are cracking.

When you last quit a job how did your last month go once you’d handed in your resignation? I bet you did the equivalent of not getting a single touch too.

Thanks Dazz.  I can’t remember the Oliver post that he refers to. You seem to be far more competent with the Forum than me, so would you be able to find my Post on Oliver all those years ago so we can check the wording because I have always tried to be careful about never overstating my impeccable intel. Cheers.

To be honest I don't even recall the Oliver comment coming from you?

This is why I phone it in for every job I ever do. No fluctuations in form means everyone’s always guessing.

But we would have to trade out something/someone of equivalent first round value to get that whereas our 'natural first round pick, which we don't have is 'free'.

Yes aware of that

The EBA argument is nonsense given the number of players who have re-signed.

And of course all will be revealed eventually.

I think there are two elements of the EBA  that we would actually need to wait for final figures - the final cap figure determines how much we can front load, and also the player marketing allowances.

Both elements could be involved in the Jackson/Brayshaw contracts.

Good question, I forgot to ask.

My neighbour’s uncle’s friend’s Dad sat next to him at a cafe this morning. He overheard LJ saying he is staying at $650k for 2 years

At the Dees or the café for 2 years

100 pages and my feeling have not changed.i would love to keep him but if he wants to leave I will except to be compensated.

Shame that we are lacking in the key position player area long term but no point selling the farm for him

I can't see how a deal can be done comfortably (if Luke seeks a move) so a stalemate is on the cards

The club will rightfully play handball and if we view draft picks in a realistic way instead of the way picks are often overvalued (busts are often viewed as club choice mistakes, not system errors) then we could demand a top 5 pick, another pick in the top 10 and a 3rd pick between 11 & 20 (or thereabouts) Or 2 picks and a decent player

That seems about right to me considering that the odds are that at least 1 of those 3 picks could easily be a bust.  Maybe even 2 of the picks.  There are no guarantees with teenage talent, never has been, never will be, despite what many might believe

Why should we take risks on the unknown as opposed to what we might view as known with LJ?

Jackson is our player and a player who we have put 3 years of hard work into.  He's already advanced as a player of his age and could be an A grade elite player down the track

And if a salary offer elsewhere is overs, then that equates to decent compensation for the Demons

But how on earth is any club going to come up with those picks anyway? That's even if any club would want to pay that much

As previously stated, if a move is on the cards, a stalemate is a very real type of outcome that could eventuate

Personally, I wouldn’t trust a word Kevin Bacon says.

Thanks. I use to find Kev reliable, but that was a while ago

Just realised freo taking Jackson is payback for dees taking Jeff White, how did they do out of that trade?

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
