(for the sake of getting to 100)

Am I the only one on here, who feels that 'Bang, Bang, Bang' undersold the occasion, and wished like hell the Channel 7 version had someone else in commentary at the time, rather than JB or Bristle?

Whilst I’m very much looking forward to next year, 2021 was such an unbelievable year, a part of me doesn’t want it to end.

read it like     bang......(pause)......bang, bang, bang

the first won is either for the 3rd goal of for the whole sequence.  then the last 3 bangs are just playing it out for emphasis

at least that's is how i see it

I see it as Brayshaw being delirious with amazement at what he was seeing, and became incoherent and unable to articulate his thoughts.

And while I am at it how does Tony Shaw get a gig on radio with comments like Great Footy....its is bleeding radio

He is the embodiment of a trend in radio commentating where the lead commentator is babbling on about the play, and then all the commentators in unison go OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! because of something extraordinary that's happened, and they don't blinking well say what the amazing thing is! Until the moment has passed. Great for the commentators. They're having their post-coital ciggie but leave the rest of us left dangling.

or maybe he was just stuttering?

I like what Hamish says after Maxy’s goal in Round 23:

”And just like that… Melbourne are minor premiers. Try and write it. Try and script it. Try and believe it. It’s happened!”

Cheers for the mental image!

Just realised maybe I’m the only one having the disturbing mental image here. In my mind they’re all nude. 😬

And it ain’t pretty

Things are usually left dangling post-coital activity.

just to be a pedant (sorry ds)

strictly speaking we can't claim 100 pages until we clock over to 101 pages

at the moment we are only at 99.??

I just had a thought that might put what we're all feeling into a different kind of perspective. How many pages would a regular season game have if it were 1 v 2, we win by 74 points, and there's 3 months till the next game?

Maybe 25?

Another 300-400 pages to pass the Hogan & Goodwin threads. Though it might never get there, given we'll all be re-locating to the 2022 post game Premiership thread in 9 months.

I think the comment by Taylor that Melbourne are drowning in goals, is right up there with bang etc.

Mind you it may have been a repeat of another time, another game.

I wasn’t too sure about that comment by BT - wasn’t it the Bulldogs who were drowning? - in Melbourne goals?

Either way the point was made, we tsunam'd them.

Hey

The mighty Dees have been premiers all year!

I think it was pre-planned . JB knew he needed a key phrase for posterity.

Note that after Trac kicked the first goal in the first 1/4  - JB yells"...Petracca goes BANG..."

He was warming up and the phrase was already in the back of his mind.

Still it was a top call by him after oliver's goal.

Hamish is a lightweight in this area, but I give him credit for this one.  It was excellent for the event that had just unfolded

You're technically correct and we all know that's the best type of correct.

Were you one of those that didn’t celebrate the Millennium on Dec 31st 1999?

😂

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
