  • Demonland changed the title to Ed Langdon on Ross Lyon

Taken out of context and tone. I'd prefer he didn't say it as these things can bite you on the bum, although that might be being a bit precious.

Bravo for the game he played last night and his honesty in talking about how he found Lyon.

He is back to his best form since his concussion.

His running and fitness is supreme.

Think about it for a sec. Has never raised his voice. And this about a top level coach. Unbelievable.
And I reckon it’s the best way to teach anyone.
Years ago I asked a bunch of my son’s primary school friends who their favourite teacher was. The decision was unanimous. One teacher was clearly doing something right. I asked the kids why she was the best and the answer was quite simply, “coz she doesn’t yell at us.”

Re Ross Lyon - "I doubt you're getting traded to Carlton any time soon". That gave me a good chuckle.

Langdon's copped a bit for this. A few St Kilda players have said they're surprised and a number of people on Twitter have posted references to a speech Langdon gave at a Fremantle awards night where he praised Lyon.

To the point where Langdon got in touch with Lyon today to apologise.

Langdon was just saying something we already knew and that is Lyons a [censored].

I think this shows, how reading a quote out of context , compared to actually listening to the quote , can give a complete different impression.

If you just looked at the quote in the tweet, as i saw NickDal Santo do on fox footy last night, it comes across as fair crack at Lyon. But actually listening to the quote it's really just a perfect comparision of Goody to a coach with a completely different old school style in Ross Lyon

then comes the inevitable response from ross...

doesn't seem to be too phased by it and takes it on board. no harm done.

“I know Ed, he’s really dry. I’m not here to defend myself or Ed. Ed can speak for himself...he was one of my favourites.”

That tells you all you need to know about Ross. An ounce of the class that Goodwin has.

Ross seems like the biggest weasel to me. Absolute slimeball.

Seriously Ross Lyon is a disgusting grub. Freo had to pay female employees hush money for the crap he did to them. He’s a disgusting human being and Langdon is entitled to his opinion of how he felt playing under him.

Just think Langdon is getting Lyon back after jokingly he had a dig at him last week on 3MMM about being an inner city kinda bloke. Same interview Gawn called Lingers a little weird.

Get the sense Langdon isn’t a super blokey (read: footy clubbish) guy and is a bit more substantive

Can you PM me with the details of what Ross did?

The biggest issue i have with this is its not even a slow news week!

A football coach yelled.

Media racking up those clicks!

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
