Freo wants two first round picks. Do we even have one?

We have a future first?

Freo won’t be counting on that one being a top 10 pick I wouldn’t think.

I reckon Salem is too slow for the midfield and just too useful off HB with setting up play

River is obviously untried so far, but might be worth a look

Salem is not slow he has pace, kicking is quicker then running

Wouldn't be totally shocked if we traded out a Harmes to GCS, or a Sparrow to Adelaide if we won the flag, in order to bundle up some picks.

Just a gut feel...

Sparrow will be a gun, tough as Viney but a better kick, and has pace.

We supposedly wanted two first rounders for Hogan when he was the next big thing as a key forward. Freo then decided to split one of their first rounders and offered us the worse one. They're going to be difficult because Bell seemingly wants to win trades rather than get a mutually beneficial outcome. That was shown again when second rounder swaps had to be involved in the langdon trade.

If Cerra nominates us we'll have a lot more leverage with the only risk remaining being Cerra walked through to the psd for North or Collingwood to take him. Freo would forego any compensation so I can't see that as being likely.

I thought this would be a dull trade period for us but it could get interesting.

Exciting that we are in the hunt for Cerra, absolute class. We need to get industrial with our trading to get up the draft order, think how many times over the years the hawks, tigers and cats have got overs for their surplus role players purely because that player was in the squad of a team at the top of the ladder. Our players are worth more than in previous years, of course you don't want to unsettle the team balance but if given the opportunity to bring in Cerra sacrifices mutual sacrifices will need to be made.

GC will be crying out for semi established midfielders to build around Rowell and Anderson.

We have some amazing SA born young talent on the list would the crows want to bring some boys home in attempt to fast track their rebuild.

Essendon and the saints need help on the inside.

The blues could literally throw 700k at anyone, why not Bradke? ****I joke!!****

I have full faith in the club and the decision makers that the right calls will be made, we have untouchable players like all clubs.

We already have the cake and I believe we have the icing as well.

Adam could be the Cerra on top.

I agree

Robbie D'orazio I assume.

Cerra's manager.

Thanks for clarifying that @wheaters31...I was starting to wonder if an ouija board was involved in the process.

Apologies if this has already been covered, but how can we afford this bloke?

I really don’t want to lose any of our required players over the next few years due to cap pressure, Collingwood style.

Adam's gone on record saying he'll accept afterpay

Pretty sure Treloar did the same but then Collingwood couldn't pay the $5 late fee.

Cerra is signed sealed and delivered. No need to worry because because I got my info off Dr.Evil

Is Lachie Neale possibly back to Freo our way into having some play with Cerra?

Thanks! Ah sorry Clint - it was more a question around whether you had any thoughts about the mechanics of how we could be part of getting Neale back to Freo, and Cerra across to us.

Not really. I'm sure Richo and Tim Lamb will be on it.

What do you guys think we will genuinely get for Weid if he does go?

Do we take a chance and move on a player like Harmes?

Hearing rumours of Sparrow to the Crows, what pick would we get in that deal?

Neale being in play for Freo means they will want Cerra out asap so they know what they're working with to get Neale in.

Only thing we currently have is a future first and no team would realistically gamble a future first for a team that could be top 4 next season.

On Cerra as a player, i haven't seen a lot of him so i can't say i'm excited about potentially losing a tough kid in Sparrow to potentially make room for him. Especially if he comes in on 600k + when he's 21 into a side that could be premiers.

I do like however, is that he's 21 and played 76 games. Sparrow is 21 and played 26? Granted one was a pick 5 and went to a team that was in a complete rebuild and the other was pick 27 and came into a team that made a prelim.

However, Cerra is hitting an experience level peak that Trac, Oliver, Salem all hit 2 years ago. Getting a 21 year old in who clearly we rate if we are after him and his demands are 600k + who could be entering a boom period in the upcoming 1-2 seasons is very smart recruitment.

I already did in next year's team thread.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
