Ha.

They didn't even fit in a joke about snow, Range Rovers or cheese platters.

The Hun are showing some restraint! Who'd have thunk it?

Jake Niall on The Age's real footy podcast made a crack about Dees fans trading in their snow passes for a trip to WA and got shouted down very quickly by both Caro and (I think) Sam McClure.

I fully retract my comment now. And wonder if I need to check in at the optometrist. Or if Mark Knight is just a shiffy cartoonist.

The Hun are still complete muppets. 😆

What is “shiffy” in American? 😁

There was so much to unpack in that last two minutes, and unpack it we have. But I just wanted to make another point: how cool, calm and collected was Max in that final play?! First that mark, he made it look effortless. If you just saw that mark, not in the context of the moment, you wouldn’t think so much was at stake. His demeanour didn’t change one iota. Then a few steps into his run up the siren sounds, he stops, glances up at the shot clock, walking backwards to recommence his run up. He was so composed, so focussed, so calm. Unbelievably chill. What a legend!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who hasn’t come down from the clouds, yet. (Not planning to anytime soon, either. 😊)

An attempt to get around the censorship of the foul language I occasionally use. 😎

Also, is American a language that has just been recognized? Or are you referring to American spelling or dialect?

So, only one change to the composition of the eight (although not the order) whether teams play each other once or some teams are played twice. To my mind, this is sufficient evidence that the annual concern about the draw not being even isn't really warranted.

Unless you’re Richmond or St Kilda. GWS are pretty happy with the draw though.

At the end of the H & W season there only 2 teams (dogs and lions) with a greater percentage. A very tidy result for the Dees.

Wow. You would decide Policy using a single year’s data. Worthy of the AFL.

It was really funny listening to Gus and Max on their podcast about what went through their minds in the last 30 seconds or so of the game WCW. Worth a listen IMO.

I just wanted to say what I loved most about post match with the great win against Geelong in Geelong (a very difficult challenge!) was the singing of the Club song of "It's a Grand Old Flag" with Mark "Choco" Williams involved.

Did anyone else see that? He really song our song with great gusto! It was absolutely fantastic! The players love Mark "Choco" Williams and having him at the Club has been fantastic for the players, coaches and supporters alike!

I am going to say that Mark "Choco" Williams is the recruit of the year for the Melbourne Demons! He may be an eccentric old fella but he loves football and is an incredible football person.

Let's hope the Demons can keep him at the Club for many more years!

It was his birthday apparently....

Love this game.  Actually love this last quarter.
Actually Actually actually actually love the last 45 seconds.  Moments to remember.
Maxy seals the minor premiership.
First time since 1964.
Love it.  Let’s keep the thread alive.

I knew when I made that comment that I was being foolish for the exact reason you identified. You are quite right to have picked me up on it. I've allowed myself to be captured by my own confirmation bias!

Now that I've admitted my error, I guess I won't be able to get a job with the AFL.

I haven’t turned my mind to Saturday night yet still enjoying the after glow of that unbelievable last quarter and in particular that last 27 seconds. I have had a lot of issues in the way that our games have been called  this year but come the man come the moment and Hamish Mc called it in an inspirational way that will go down in history as one of the most significant plays of all time. Loved it.💕💕

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
