Rohan back for the Cats 🤮

Wonder if they'll pull a surprise selection? Dropping Hibberd for May instead of Joel Smith?

Hibberd dropped

No j agree. Just know the club rate Smith enormously and would be finding ways to fit him in.

You were right. Hibbo out. Smith still in.
I’m confused.

I don’t know how Sparrow is in ahead of JJ. Unless JJ is sore he is just a better player.

The committee is clearly intent on getting game time into sparrow…

very strange team to say the least with Jordon and to a lesser extent melksham out.

Playing Viney and Sparrow in the same team is a very strange move

I disagree with Smith holding his spot over Hibberd and Sparrow holding his spot over Jordon.

But, neither is an egregiously bad decision.

If Port wins, I truly hope Smith proves me wrong.

Smith was excellent last week until cramps got him. He offers more flexibility and speed on the game than Hibbo but lacks the footy smarts. Can see why you would want him against Rohan.

Thought Hibbo would be the natural choice to play on Rohan. He could have a field day if he gets hold of Smith

So do we go:

May - Hawkins
Petty - Cameron
Smith - Rohan

?

Smith might be worth a try on Cameron.

His athleticism would give him a show of keeping up on the lead and in the air.

Agree with all changes.

Surprised we didn't bring in Daw ahead of McDonald based on these changes

Looks better than Hibbo on Rohan. He’s get carved up for pace

Sparrow extremely lucky to hold spot would have kept jordan

Hibbo is almost cooked

I reckon Jezza would get him for height and reach though, prefer Petty.

I still think I would have preferred Hibberd over Smith, but I don't absolutely hate the matchup of Smith on Rohan (I may eat my words there though).

Yeah can't say I agree with the team selections to be honest. Hope we are not playing with fire.

Really thought Jordon would be still in and Sparrow out. Though Sparrow did have 7 tackles.

Problem is also the imbalanced of the midfield. Dropping Jordon takes away outside spread where as now we are just too one dimensional with Viney back in.

Backing Goody with this one but [censored] I'm extra nervous now.

I thought Smith did well last week but didn't think he'd hold his spot. Big show of faith from the selection committee. Hibbo on the outer for finals i reckon

Fantastic to have 3 leaders back.

the team looks excellent with a great mix of youth and experience and some good pace.

harmes, Smith, sparrow will be needing to put in good performances to stay in next week

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
