And that song Calling You from Baghdad Cafe is so good! Another film from that era was the Coen Brothers effort, Raising Arizona.

Raising Arizona is a great move. As are most Coen Brothers movies. Fargo and No Country For Old Men are my faves.

Love this! Funny how you can not like a song much until you hear a superb cover of it.

I always imagine, that is exactly how it would have started... some dude/dudette, with some words, on a guitar...before production.

Pies first gamer, Irish recruit Anton Tohill is son of Anthony Tohill who played a game for us in the 90’s. He is listed as 200 cm! Interesting to see how he goes.

Mmmm.  So just a few games short for a father and son pick for us then - no doubt Scott would  have a public gripe though had dad play for the Cats.

And then it usually goes south at that point.

Not sure if I've seen that one. Will put it on the to do list for a rainy weekend.

It’s so good! I guess lockdown’s not all bad: you get the opportunity to discover new stuff to watch.

Just watched a few minutes only as I really DGAF re the result.  (We need to only think  of winning our games and ignore the rest, given that we are still currently on top.  Any other mindset will lead to another season of MFCSS disappointment).

Has the distance required for a mark been reduced to 8 meters, without the public being informed?  And holding on after a mark is apparently now ok.

7 commentary again awful.  “Was that deliberate? Oh, didn’t go out??

Correction - 4 meters, it seems.

Just watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics, like so many other events without crowds it just isn’t the same. Plus the amount of people involved it makes it look like it’s a dress rehearsal. Feel sorry for those involved, their opportunity at being a part of something special and it’s (yet another thing) ruined by the pandemic.

Such an upbeat Ceremony. Great to see a nod to macrame at the start

I swear to god I’m losing the will to live watching this opening ceremony. And then the other option is watching Port vs Pies.
Life is so hard.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
