Things are becoming more convoluted by the hour for the AFL and the continuation of the competition must be regarded as in jeopardy.

In a worst case scenario and the season had to be terminated now, if the AFL awarded the premiership to the top of the ladder team, would you accept it?

ABSOLUTELY NOT

Worst case scenario is that finals are moved interstate, which I think is still a real possibility.

Vic 22 today. This is results from infections 3-14 days prior yes? (Not sure of delta incubation to symptoms, so feel free to correct me). Will get worse before better.

QLD or WA I think.

With 110 new cases in NSW. It will not be in Sydney for another 6 weeks

Without a finals Series, we haven’t won anything.

it will be remembered as a “good” season

That can be satisfying to a point; if the rollover season for 2022 is more normal, that GF would be the one to win. We have had a season to prepare for a blockbuster 2022 one would think. It will never happen, but a great 2022 season would be very satisfying when it came around, almost compensatory.

Agree

The families of the Sydney teams are relocating to Qld today. They are required to do 14 days quarantine.

This would not even be considered if they thought the teams might return to Sydney in the next 5-6 weeks.

I am struggling to care about football at the moment. The chances of going to a game are close to zero and the Dees have decided to return to 2020 form and results. Reading has become my favourite sport and Monopoly with my GD is running a close second at present. 2021 is dead I am looking to a better 2022.

I am not unhappy Mr. Leg just cannot find any joy out of watching football. The country is so messed up by the Covid problems that football seems unimportant.

Agree, but you need a distraction from the current problems.

The COVID stuff is draining but jeepers, "return to 2020 form and results"?

We've lost a grand total of zero consecutive matches. One draw, the week after belting a top 4 side on their home ground. And we're top of the [censored] ladder!

I have shut the door on 2021. Second jab on the 30th. Then isolation till some sanity arrives hopefully in future years. The only interest I have is my family.

Ha, this country has not even had a pandemic. I have friends in other countries who have lost family and every single person they know has had the virus. This is nothing. Seriously, its just attitude.

Be thankful you live in such a safe place.

Look at what you have got and not what you dont.

Once you have your second jab why isolate yourself. Life is for living OD. Get out into the world.

Appreciate the honesty and having some other things to focus on is healthy.

Just reading your posts in this thread is depressing.   Go play monopoly with your GD.....posting with such negativity about the Demons when they are top of the ladder and approaching finals IS madness.  IF you are not interested in the footy why are you on a football forum discussing your lack of interest?   Makes no sense at all.

I for one are thankful we have footy to distract us in these times.   It is one of the few things that i find to be a healthy distraction from Covid....I am sure many other passionate supporters feel the same

Go easy, mate. OD is venting and that’s one of the reasons we join a fan forum; footy or not.
I personally agree with you in that footy is a very welcome distraction from covid and all the other ills of the world. But I wouldn’t tell anyone else to feel that way or to stop posting if they feel otherwise. ?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
