If we win from here we are the real deal   but worried

We wont win this and our excellent start has just gone down the toilet. So too has us doing any good in Sept. Premiership aspirants DONT Lose games to Adelaide,Collingwood and now Gws! Players drinking their iwn bathwater and Goodwin failing to select BB was disaster waiting to happen

Difficult to see on TV but The expert comments are saying we are playing a 7 man defence giving GWS an extra around the ball when it’s being contested. We are getting belted around stoppages and thru the middle. Time to get numbers back in the middle I think. Is it Jordan playing back to make up the 7?

Don't care if Weed or Brown don't get a touch. Need a contest. GWS are marking everything uncontested in our forward 50.

No point Tom Macdonald marking on the wing then kicking long to Spargo & Pickett.

Viney isnt an asset at stoppages. He is again blocking the outlet as he is 2nd to the drop.

The Rugby player playing rugby

This is simple.

Outnumbered at the contest but we have an extra in defence.

Oliver, Petracca, Viney, Harmes, can't win a clearance so forwards are getting nothing.

GWS have also taken the Melbourne wingers out of play.

How many more year of Viney do we have to watch lol

Yes he's heart and soul - but he's just not a good player I'm sorry

Game is going past him at an alarming rate

Agree. 16 rounds in and they can’t work out we go sideways when their is no key forward and then make a disposal error to turn it over.

How are our speedy small forwards looking, when the ball isn’t delivered properly, or kicked to a big forward who can bring it to ground?

Maybe a loss will force Goodys hand and bring in one of the browns.

We had sam w in for five games...dropped him without like for like.

Sick of our backline having to do all the work.

And if bbs fitness is in question then so should  vineys.

Edited by leave it to deever

They are going in way harder and are using it better. If we don’t lift our pressure we will lose heavily.

Hibbo: 1 disposal

Toby Green: 3 goals

Time for a rethink.

Toby Green: four kicks. Yes, he has converted well, but  Hibbo is doing a great job

They clearly want a tall in the goal square because they’re playing Gawn and Jackson in the square. But neither are forwards.

BLITHLY OBLIVIOUS GOODWIN NO IDEA

Selection committee blocking out fugazi, aka common sense with Brown's non-selection. Too much self serving tripe at press conferences not to mention the Gawn/ Bradshaw podcast rubbish.

2nd qtr

getting smashed at the clearances 12-18 and losing contested footy 30-39

giants switched on. Pressure acts

who’s on kelly. Ffs he’s killing us

oliver Viney brayshaw are having zero influence

a goalkicking tall forward !!! Give me Ben Brown now

gawn salem May lever

Anb goal  SPARROW goal

goody???

?  I think we do need a Ben Brown NOW

? Giants have extra man at contest and we have may behind the ball. That’s a defensive mindset

? kozzzzzy. STAY INSIDE 50 ffs !!!

And if so WTF for??

Ok, I’m probably gonna cop it but I have never got all the love for Viney……sure he is hard at it but rarely does he come up with the ball and if he does he gets tackled trying to do too much. He’s not fast, blindly bombs his kicks but I guess he’s not alone there. I dunno, maybe I know nothing.  ?

No hes not hes getting totaly towelled up

Nothing to do with Ben Brown not being out there. Nothing.

Reckon the club knew we were playing Thursday so no Brown with a 5 day break. Would suggest he only plays a half for Casey tonight.

he sucks and I'm happy to cop heat for it

being tough isn't an asset anymore

I would trade him in a heartbeat.

He's getting exposed with the pace of the game, in 2 years he will be totally shot

Agreed. If we were winning more clearances our forwards would be more likely to score. It's as simple as that.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
